Placing an image inside a single character can give your layouts a super-professional, design-forward look. And its really simple to achieve! In this video, youll learn how to transform your typography into picture frames, to dramatic effect! Well be using Adobe InDesign for this tutorial. Youll often see this sort of design technique being used in high-end magazine design, to give added impact to headlines and to showcase a photo in a unique and eye-catching way. It can also add drama to book design, marketing materials and poster design. In this tutorial, well set up an InDesign layout for a magazine spread, and experiment with creating our image-filled text on that. Lets get started! DramaDrama: Really useful tips! The following is a summary of how to create the text filled with an image:
1. Type the character you want and adjust the font size to be much larger
2. Select the character you just typed in and go to Type > Create Outlines
3. Choose none as the fill color of the character (which means there is no fill) [This step does not affect a lot. ]
4. Go to File > Place > Choose the picture you like > Ok
