EXCEL - How to use the IF function to find a particular word in a STRING of text ?-
Hi so i am creating an excel function. The cell D5 contains a full sentence of words. I want to create a function that detects the word -work- in that sentence. If it finds that word within the sentence I want it to print the word -employment-. -
THe formula/function i have created only detects the word -work- if its the only word in the cell.-
Here is my function:-
=IF(K2=-work-,-EMPLOYMENT-) - its not doing what i want it to do!!!-
My question is - Is there a way of Excel finding the word -work- in amongst the other words?

I really need help on Writing a formula, Well I have a formula ready so ultimately I need a sale to read another sale like the (if) function so that way it can calculate a number for me so what I-m getting at is that if the sale equals a certain amount of words that I already have an a list then it will calculate -this- But if it-s The words are not in the sale then calculate -that-. I know that sounds a little confusing I was trying to make it not but. I can definitely show you my spreadsheet so that way you can understand what I-m doing. I just really need some help because I cannot figure it out for the life of me.

First I want to say Thankyou. I would therefore like to critic that if you did a short intro less than a minute then take the rest of the time creating the actual content then you won-t have me trying to skip your video cz guess what? I (including thousands of other people) am doing homework and I don-t have the time to watch 6min video long for every question I come across on my test. The shorter the video the more meaningful the content. You did great!

Hi Kevin. Is it possible when the THEN funcion is true instead of a text to ask the excel to create a box with a mesage i.e. -create new product- and also have a sound. Basically to force you to take an action ??? . I am trying to work in my inventory excel file and I idealy look for such a solution. Thank you in advance. NIck

I'm trying to add a formula to add employee related data to multiple columns. I've created a data validation reference but I can't seem to get the data to pre-populate based on the employee information. Can I use the -IF- formula for this? If not, what can I use to do this? OBTW, I'm working on a MAC.

Omg, I had to comment because you just saved my night, I have this late assignment thing due and I had no idea how to use excel and I was LITERALLY ABOUT to SPEND ALL NIGHT writing out the function for every box literally am so thankful for this video bless you, my guy.

I am building a spread sheet for calculating square footage for cabinet doors. If the square footage is below the minimum 1.5 sf , how can I add a -rule- to change the cell to automatically to 1.5 sf? HELP! :)

Hi Kevin! I'm doing excatly what you told in the video. However, instead of showing Over Budget-Investigate, the Status of the Entertainment I have is still -Within Budget-. Why is that? What did I do wrong?
