How to disable autofocus on webcam in Linux - Logitech C920 - Chris Titus Tech This video shows you how to fix a USB webcam in Linux, by changing its factory defaults without the manufacturer application. I solved my Logitech C920 Linux Driver issues by following these steps. The major feature I wanted turned off was the auto focus

Great video, thanks! Maybe i just missed it, but if you turn the auto-focus off, I'm surprised you didn't suggest tinkering with the -focus_absolute- setting. By adjusting this, I could determine the exact right focus depth for how far the object (me) is from the camera. I even wrote some aliases so I could change this on the fly.

Hi Chris... a question if I may. I have been playing with these for some time, (4 months?) and it seems to me that there is very little if anything they do when you are using OBS, or VLC, or Cheese... So I am wondering what app/program you are using where this command line control is helpful. Thanks in advance.

Thank you! I was frustrated with Logitech for providing nothing for linux control of their webcams. Yay for learning new things. I'm probably going to -fancy up- the script to that I can tell it which camera I want to set because I'll have different ones or more than one from time to time.

Good video:) Question, is there a way to adjust the frame rate and shutter speed for North America to match electrical frequencies so we do not get that waviness/black banding when recording. Once I get that I will save it in my .sh file.

any reason why.
Thanks in advance for all

Hi, what webcam software do you use, i have a 1080p webcam using ubuntu studio 20.04 with KDE AND I AM HAVIG PROBLEMS GETTING WEBCAMOID TO WORK , THANKS

I would recommend running the script with udev. That way it would work when you hotplug your webcam. It would also work if you have multiple webcams.
