Hi Chris - I took the plunge and switched to Linux completely around the time you started making your videos. Windows updates and the ability not to pick and choose what is installed in a rolling update without install WSUS was the key factor. One problem that I seem to have though is that in fast action games, such as FPS shooters where I try to maintain 100fps, I get noticeable hitching. This is prevalent with Overwatch (as an example) even after letting the shader cache -warm up-. I use the proprietary nVidia driver, typically have esync enabled, have increased the file descriptor limit needed to maintain esync performance, typically use recent dxvk builds (i.e. 0.95), but any changes I make don't seem to have any impact - better or worse.
I'm running Arch Linux with the proprietary nVidia driver (using EVGA 980 Ti) with KDE 5 and SDDM. The only thing I can think of is that I am running three monitors - 2 of which are 60Hz 1080p and 1 is 144Hz 1440p. BUT - I did unplug the 2 1080p monitors, freshly booted, updated the X11 config file - and it didn't seem to make any different - had the same hitching in Overwatch even 15-20 minutes of game play. (I usually give myself 10-15 minutes in a custom map, with 11 AI players and cycle through all the heroes to warm up the cache)
Have you experienced hitching at all in FPS based games? I don't see it on the other games I play, such as WoW, or ESO - or strategy games like Cities or Civ.

You're doing great work! For maximum impact, you might want to be focusing on the top played games atm. Like Fortnite, League of Legends, Dota 2, etc. (don't quote me on those. I also don't know if they would work on wine). Consider also what the most popular among streamed games are... Keep doing what you're doing! :-)

I'm watching your vids like 2 months considering switching from -debloated- Win10 to Linux.
-The only one- thing that stopped me is Paladins because I thought that EAC doesn't let me play it.

everywhere i look for how to install it on ubuntu people are talking about wine... but there's actually a linux version of pala available, even in the official ubuntu software app, it's just never working, even tried it with snap. Is there no guide on how to install the linux version somewhere? =)

this video helped me a lot and it fixed all my issues until i get into the game and it freezes once it's trying to -load my profile-... cant even -alt+tab- out of the game so i'm forced to just shut down the PC every time... do you know what could be the problem?

Winetricks isn't the same program as -protontricks-, is it?
I mean, im new at this on Linux and I don't know if that program had have an update or something like that

HUZZAH! This game is why I often switch between my OSes via dual boot.
I move ever closer to a full on Linux environment.
I shall probably get there by 2021, when Win7 support dies out.

I'm trying to install dotnet40 but it won't let me because it says I'm running 64bit.. Any other idea of forcing 32bit settings inside proton? I'd appreciate someone explaining.
