These cards are going to change more than just Raytracing with game developers. He mentioned how it's going to affect development with designers not needing to bake shadows or use all that deferred rendering garbage. They'll be able to just add light sources wherever they want like the old days, only with more legit light sources at once, and then the RT will take over and handle all the shadows, reflections, and occlusions dynamically. They won't have to hand-draw baked occlusions or anything anymore. Design will be quicker and more efficient, graphics quality will go up, etc. If that happens and games revolve entirely around RT for core visuals, any GPU that can't handle that kind of RT load is going to get left in the dust. That's a likely possibility. I wouldn't put it past developers to take 2-5 years to figure out how to design their games with this since they're often so incompetent, especially when it comes to new mainstream tech. At least one or two AAA studios are bound to succeed at it and raise the bar though. Once they do, that's when the rest will open their eyes and force themselves to learn the ins and outs of it.
Despite all that, I still think the prices are bogus. I'm dying to see the next gaming Titan's specs, but I have a feeling the price is going to break my heart. I'm also curious to see more on NVLink in games now that the bridges for RTX are more affordable and not $700 for linking two Quadros like they were.

Anyone else realized that the demo they did are only one item at a time? When they demoed shadow, there is no reflection. When they demo reflection, there is no shadows etc. 1: 49: 55 they only rendered the reflection but not the light source and shadows from the blast. 1: 31: 40 they only rendered the shadows but people and objects around it weren't lighted up by ray traced lights. You can see the guy's back is dark even thou there is another light source behind him.
I wonder, how practical is RTX on real world gaming performance.

I got my EVGA 1070 SC the day they went on for pre-order and glad I can kick back and still enjoy my 1070 and upgrade to 1080ti which prices will hopefully drop down due to these 2000 series gpu's. The pricing on those 2070/2080/ti cards are a bit to rich for me. I know ray tracing for a fact looks amazing but I'll hold off on these cards till companies put out a few games taking advantage of RTX or just plane ol justifying why I should upgrade.

RTX - It Just Works
Anyway, I think I'll wait another generation before upgrading. I have a 1080, and the only game with ray tracing I can see myself playing is Tomb Raider. Currently just not worth the money for me at the moment. Realistically, there probably won't be too many games with ray tracing for another couple years, by then RTX 3000 series will be a thing and it will be more refined, so I'm gonna wait to get on this train.

Consoles dictate the conditions! Period! Such GPUs will never go to consoles. So games will not support ray-tracing. That nVidia shows a few tricks and games? Do not be fooled - do you remember what was with DX12? It's been months/years gone and it's still not a standard. Referring to the price of models xx80 and xx80 Ti. Absurd. Remember that you vote and choose your wallets.

Watched 10 minutes of this and I couldn't take it anymore. If you guys have nothing interesting to say, why not keep quiet and just show the presentation? You guys kept trying to appear witty and insightful interrupting, and you are just not interesting. Going to try to find the presentation without you guys somewhere else.

Lol this announcement kind of sucked due to stick shock, I was on my 1080ti like. wut. But I sold my 1080ti for $600, bought a 2080ti for $999 with three free games. Threw an EK block on it and it's great. Just played Control thanks to you guys, and it blew my mind what raytracing can do, and DLSS.

This is so great, I'll just get in touch with some human traffickers so I can sell one of my kidneys so I can't get a RTX 2070, hell I could sell my second kidney so I can get a RTX 2080ti, oh wait, I'll be dead. rising to the beams in the sky (powered by ray tracing.

Elana is right, this screams Apple. Hardware is good but not breathtaking. Charging a premium. Doing everything they can not to mention performance numbers. Also if this is compute intensive AMD could give them a run for the money
