Lenovo has entered the handheld market by unveiling the Legion Go, the company's first Windows-based handheld gaming device. In this video, Adam gives us a hands-on tour of the device and shows off some features you might not expect. friedpork_owl: I appreciate the larger screen for sure. FPS mode definitely is something I would use & feel more comfortable gaming with a mouse. 2tb 2242 currently under 200 usd is nice. If the build quality is typical Lenovo I think they made a winner. Thank you!

The good news is that you won't have to wait long to get your hands on the Legion Go: Expect it this October starting at 699 for a model with the Z1 Extreme and 512GB of storage. (A 1TB model should cost 50 more, and Lenovo also plans a later model with the straight Z1 non-Extreme chip; no pricing shared on that one yet.) Stay tuned to PCMag for a full review of the Legion Go, plus detailed benchmarks, once we get one into PC Labs later this year.

Personally have the left trackpad mapped to mouse on the Steam Deck because A and B for accept/decline just feels more natural to me and lets me swap between mouse menus and keyboard/gamepad menus a little more seamlessly, but I guess with the removable controllers Lenovo could probably offer an opposite config.
I gotta say though, it looks like a bit of a chonker... The Steam Deck's already a bit too wide for my liking.

Hot take: I want handhelds to be small.
If the display is this big and everything is the same as when playing on my PC, I might as well be playing on a laptop or PC. But for a handheld I want that sweet PSP experience. Something that is so different from PC/console gaming that it feels like its own thing. When I play on the PSP emulator, I also set it to 720x408 pixels. Sometimes less is more.

i literally need that joystick as a regular mouse full time without even wanting the main handheld as much
as having tried out the vertical mice out there i realized those are sitll borderline unusable and theyre still making my forearms scissor like hell
literally the joystick form factor is the only actually ergonomic solution (and screw logitech by the way overpriced POS

On a handheld weight matters a lot at 854 grams it's like ur holding three Nintendo switches at the same time ...I don't want to stop 30 mins in a game I just started...how come engineers who designed the mouse wheel at the back of the joycons couldn't figure that out...man i wolud like to pay less for indie games and buy it on Steam then the Eshop..maybe after few years..

i like the design and that gorgeous screen but i hate the idea of having joycons on a pc no body use that!! unless it has a dock to connect to tv and a grip to attach both joycons and make a controller.
and that thing of fps mode is a horrible idea no body will use that i hope they drop that thing and give a dock and a grip instead

Sense I'm making the first comment. Can I have one for free? Excellent idea about the Is controllers Detaching. I was wondering what happens when one of those Thumbsticks wears out over time and then watch him take the controller off. Awesome Implementation. Great job, Lenovo! This is a home run for sure!
Beautiful device

Sold my deck cause it was way too large and heavy for couch/bed gaming. This Lenovo is way too big and is defo gonna be heftier. From the specs, it seems like battery life is already neglible from the get go. This more like a handheld pc married to a power plug.

I still don't know how to feel about that joystick mouse thing. It looks counter intuitive though. Because you have to place it on a flat surface and if you are already carrying something this big, what's carrying a mouse going to do?

I will stick with my Deck. Valves beauty is not on its hardware, but software support. Valve continues to improve the device and software support leaves everyone else behind. I can only imagine what Valve will do on the 2nd gen Deck.

I like this because it doubles as a grip strength trainer. Gonna use gyro for maximum gains
Edit: Also, did I hear that right at the end? 699 for the Extreme version? Previous leaks said Starting at 799 ...

With the size of this unit surely they could have put a 2280 sdd. And why only 1 micro sd card slot. Also no usb A port. This is so close to a dream pc handheld. If it had an oculink would buy it for sure.

That 8 inch screen and 1.8lb weight doesn't sound too good to me.
I do like the idea of detachable controllers though.... At the very least they should be easier to replace if they break.

The ROG Ally's Sticks and Buttons feel really cheap - also the housing... The Steam Deck's internals maybe not the fastest in comparison but overall performance and quality is the best yet.

What a crap build, minimal ports, stilly detachable controller setup and no egpu ability outside TB4. Passing on yet another handheld. only good things are the price, cpu and ram.

I have a steam deck and pleased. Ill wait for a few years and get one then as I'm sure that 2 years from now 1080p 120hz oled at high settings will be possible on handheld.

Portable device with 2560x1600 screen... Enjoy 5fps or playing at non-native resolutions. Seriously they didn't think about this other than higher numbers better

trackpad is a great addition (esp with windows) however looks like it might be in a location that you might accidentally be resting your hand on... time will tell

Lenovo is unredemable...never trust anything they or now Motorola put out.
Never forget Superfish.
PCWorld perhaps some companies deserve no coverage.
