Some people are saying just get a desktop PC. Yeh no yeah, nah dont want that in my life-they are frail af. I always go with laptops. I've had 8 laptops since 2002 none have broken, even after my cat knocked a full cup of tea on one, and my brother knocked tea on another one a few years earlier. Just cleaned them and were good as new. My laptops just got old and I sold them on before they were too old. Laptops are easy to post and sell on, just box up, carry to post office and post. I've owned 3 desktops 2 before 2000 and 1 in 2016, they all broke under 2 years of use, and the 3rd on actually lowered the temp of the room when you turned it on: [. And then desktops break your left with a big heavy heap of metal you need to dispose of. Desktops suck.

So a year later and area 51m users are differentiated between R1 and R2. That's right they developed a new model for an upgradable laptop. Why that makes no sense you may ask? And you know what, you're absolutely RIGHT. R1 users aren't given the opportunity to upgrade to the newer chipset that comes with R2, NO motherboard upgrades to utilize Intel's new 10 series chipset. So basically they lied. They cheated. They failed.

They could have made it 19 or 20 Inch as a true semi portable desktop class laptop with full size rtx2080 plus couple of extra fan setup for ensuring the thermal status at it's best. There is already a 17 inch (the new m17) so I don't see any reason for another 17 inch laptop with desktop CPU and mobile GPU tbh. Upgradeability is the only thing I loved about it beside the design

Except ya know. Alienware will be the ONLY PLACE to be able to replace a new cpu/gpu cause of how they make it to be like that. In other words. ITS A OVERPRICED TRAP. Nothing more.
Call me when I can go to any retailer and get the replacements for that laptop just like a desktop.
Until then it is a useless gimmick.

lol. people are already hyping it. guess what? this laptop will heat up like all the other alienware notebooks and even further beyond! You will probably be able to cook with this thing! I had a few Alienware Notebooks and man. why cant they build in a good termal solution!
reply

Desktop performance, yes I can understand that, but Please someone educate me how is upgradeable a thing? After 3 years of use the new market processors & GPU wont be compatible on the same motherboard right? And Motherboard isn't upgradeable?

The design look great but if the weight of this is around 7 lbs, support rtx 2080ti will be excellent. Pls get rid of this 1080 panel, this machine cost $4000usd man, all we get is 1080p and 144 hz, is a joke.

Where can you buy? (Even though I can-t afford it and never will probably get it due to the price mark (And no I can-t work for it I got no transportation or bank account for jobs)
reply

Tech moves too quickly to make an upgradable laptop. Also how many people would buy this instead of a desktop and a laptop instead! You must be dumb to buy this ugly thing.

I find it interesting how dell bought alienware and destroyed it's brand and all dell had to do was remove all the quality. good move by dell management. LMAO!
