I found face id to require to phone to held in an odd position to unlock; and during setup since they force you to have your face in the setup area. For me, I have to point the camera at my chine or chest and it works fine. If, as I am looking at the phone, point it at my face (eyes really, then it fails till I tilt the bottom away forcing it to point down. It's an odd usage feeling and I'm guessing is just the angle of the camera. I guess the selfie camera is pointing for you to be centered on the screen and a certain distance away. This is an Xr by the way; which the design could also impact usage.

Having had a Note 8 for 1. 5 years, muscle memory has made the much maligned fingerprint scanner next to the camera a non-issue. I wonder if the S10 scanner is the same, however the Note 8 definitely has a cutout for the scanner which makes locating it easy.
On the flip side, I use the Iris scanner often on the Note 8, because it works through Polarized Sun Glasses, not many know this, but it works quite well as long as your not facing the IR reader toward the sun and overexposing it.

OH SHUT IT NERD. How's is it a -Step backwards- when it enables a nearly bezeless display in the front? YES you say this without considering WHY they decided to implement this in the design and also the SECURITY factors that they had to consider. FASTER does not mean it's more SECURE. If they had given you a super fast & reliable capacitive fingerprint sensor in the front that takes up the bottom bezel of the display you would have complained about the bezels being too thick you NOOB

With the Galaxy S10 I firstly need to take it out of the pocket and then search the scanner on the display and finally try a few times to unlock it. When the sun is shining it's even worse. This is a step backwards. I miss the home button.

This was such a great test of real-world performance. I think that much of these new-fangled ways of fingerprint unlock are form factor upgrades so they can keep the backs of the phone cleaner. You have proven that the older ways were better and have given the nod to Apple's face-ID tech being a great way to unlock our phones regardless of what our thumbs might have been pressed into.

What about a important factor, the old scanners gave a lot of false positives (why they are being phased out, according to reviewers and the industry (probably, why they are faster. What about the S10 and the 6T are they better than the other two for accuracy? I'll take a couple of seconds out of my life for better security.

As an owner of a OnePlus 3, we already have face unlock.
I use face unlock and fingerprint sensor.
Face unlock isn't useful unless you're in good light, that's when the fingerprint sensor is worth using.
I'll never use a phone without a fingerprint sensor again lol

Low key, I think the rear fingerprint sensor on Samsung got quicker aftet the one UI update. Imo nothing bests the reliability of those.

Face ID definitely takes longer than fingerprint. And it misses me fairly often on my X. way more than a fingerprint ever has
