I think for now AMD should focus on Desktop side not laptops and continue how great they are doing in that space, later when they have marketshare and capital and extra R&D to burn then try and create a low power high performance chip made specifically for mobile products. There is zero reason to get bastardized parts for mobile that are just cut desktop parts that are not ideal just for the sake of giving an option.
GPUs will be an interesting market when Intel hits,
If its your first build its a lot easier to deal with PGA sockets than a LGA where it is so much easier to screw it up/have less of a chance with defects. I would more recommend Ryzen for that reason alone for you initial build.
CLC versus air-cooling it depends on the case, Noctua and Phanteks makes some real nice coolers and the Cooler Master 212 has been a staple for years, but personally a clc just looks better in a system by making it look more clean and it definitely doesn't put a lot of pressure on the motherboard pcb layers, not that I have heard any issues in years but it is something to think about.
Its about load times with SSD/Storemi/HDDs, In a lot of MMOs it significantly impacts your spawn in time as its loading the environment/enemies then you(excluding your internet connection speed, because that is also a major factor) In games like WOW/SWoToR/Blade and soul/Aion and others you can get killed before you fully spawn allowing you to take control while larger assets load, so you spawn a target for people to kill you off before you can react back(you appear to them first. My recommendation is to buy a Crucial MX500 2 terabyte SSD(around $200) if- that is a concern for you and you specifically play MMOs and need the space. Not all games have this so unless its an issue I wouldn't waste the money.

On a more serious note. I have built my first PC previous week (3700X, X570 Elite, 32 GB of LPX 3333/16, RM650X, Fractal S and 660p. Everything worked the first time except for one annoying thing: that bloody USB3 front-panel-connector. Whomever invented that horrible thing.
I did made the mistake to first install the CPU-cooler (D15 for the AM4) and only then screw in the motherboard and connect the fan-connectors. A bad idea! Even the Fractal S lacks space on the top to fit a hand properly to connect the fan-connectors, I had to grab the fan-connectors with the sides of my fingers, I took me around 20 attempts per fan-connector. I can overclock the RAM to 3600 with the stock timings, it seems stable (1 pass of Mem86, I need to do some more testing to be sure but I will do that after sharpening the timings.

Pretty shocking - So INTC's first swing at a dGPU is shooting for the 2080TI successor? what node? INTC says its coming 2020? has it taped out? is INTC MFG this mystical card? INTC is the leading GPU maker by volume? lol ok. Do you think all the articles of Lisa Su leaving AMD a day before the server release was a coincidence? IMHO Intel is working hard right now - they are working hard at everything at the same time. smells like a hot mess to me. I'm all over the place but you guys do marathon podcasts.

I love the look of a fat Noctua NH-D15, or Dark Rock Pro 4 twin tower cooler. Its amazing and fills out the system nicely instead of having big empty spaces. but they are as big a pain in the ass as they are physically big. You're 100% never gonna manage to unlock the top pci-e slot with one installed. makes removing your GPU for any reason completely unreasonable.

love windows 10 but tiles suck, it sucks because alot of old and new programs dont even have a tile for looks, instead ytou end up with shortcuts. surely windows 10 should have a tool to make a nice looking tile for start menu easy and simple instead of using two third party apps and haveing to keep one runing in background. Wierd

Lisa Su is an engineer, not so much with Swan. Everyone knows that the previous Intel CEO got canned because he said that AMD was going to take at least 10% of the server market. He got fired a few weeks later with the bogus excuse he was dating a subordinate. I'm sure he was the only one in Intel doing that, please.

It amazes me how Windows 10 users do not seem the least bit concerned that MS is uploading virtually any data they choose to upload. Hey if MS wants to read my email or browse my installed games and music, thats fine with me. Even MS Calculator apparently has telemetry built in.

Intel integrated graphics have saved me when my GPU died and I still needed to wait a month for the new ( at the time ) 1080 ti to be released. I will never buy a CPU without onboard graphics. You don't realize you need it, until you need it.

IBM just bought Red Hat linux and AMD graphics drivers are more linux friendly. Maybe the rumor about Lisa Su going to IBM has to do with some IBM linux based product that involves AMD hardware.

Millennials like to save money (because the old folks are hoarding it all) The price/performance videos I do of gaming builds with old xeons and stuff seem to be interesting to younger people.
