Surface Pro 7: Should you upgrade from the 6?

Mark checks out the Microsoft Surface Pro 7 and talks about what changes have been made compared to the Surface Pro 6. Shot on a Canon C200 alchemist1138: Another year and still no 13. 5- surface pro using the surface book and surface laptop screen. They also desperately need Thunderbolt 3 support. They can keep surface connect for legacy and to keep selling their docks but anyone with multiple devices wants to use a single dock and TB3 docks don't have the compromise of USB alone or the proprietary nature of Surface connect. In my case I can connect my laptop and tablet to the same single port to charge, use external monitors, external gpus, etc. Buying a Surface Pro complicates my setup and requires me to by proprietary peripherals. If the usb-c is at least gen-2 and supports power delivery at least its in the ballpark. we will see.

Really disappointing to be honest all that's really new is the USB-C and they hid this fact with all the other future announcements. Your video basically offered no concrete changes that was made from the 6 to 7. I'm sorry but 10th Gen vs 9th Gen processor shouldn't even be an upgrade point. One day there will be swappable CPU's even for this form factor & also laptops and they'll not be able to fleece consumers anymore

So, I want to be able to watch this video and know that I can trust the info, but when you start calling Irus Plus graphics -Iris Pro-, and say that the surface pro 7 releases in November (when it releases Oct. 22, you start to lose credibility to the point that I don't know how accurate your statements are about the screen and pen being more responsive than the last generation.

Surface Pro 7 is better, obviously. However, if you not really want USB-C and only use Surface for simple tasks like Office and 2D graphic works, Pro 6 is likely the best choice now. Its i5 8Gb RAM 128Gb SSD configuration is now even cheaper than the cheapest configuration of Pro 7 (679$ vs 749$. I will stay with my Surface Pro 6, for sure.

The two unanswered question I have on the Surface Pro 7 are. First. is the i5 model still fanless? and second. the usb-c obviously supports display port since it can drive two external 4k displays. but does it support power delivery? can you charge the surface pro via usb-c instead of the surface connect.

Should I go with Surface Pro 7 or Surface Pro X? I am a web / mobile developer and I use Adobe Suite a lot so I need Adobe Photoshop / Dreamweaver to be very responsive. Any reason why I would go with a Surface Pro X? Can I run all the applications I run on a normal PC? Is it as fast as the Surface Pro 7?

I do alot of drawing and digital art and I really liked procreate on the iPad pro 10. 5 but it would be super nice to play light games and have the windows file system on my art machine and make it more versatile is the pen there yet as far as competing with the iPad pro?

How is the battery? I heard it is such a disappointment. I am really hesitant to buy it because of this. So many opposite reviews. Some say good battery, lasts all day. Others say bad, not even for 7 hours.

Glad the Iris Pro is back. The only thing that turns me off from this is STILL the lack of Thunderbolt 3 for connecting external GPU when rendering. Still doesn't justify an upgrade due to this weakness.

Good overview but you missed the most important improvement which is the inclusion of USB-C port. I'm sure there are many people like me who would upgrade just for that one reason.
