CLock speed remember AMD Vishera? Doesn't always translate to performance, same goes for TFLOPs Vega, Compute monster but was lacking in the transition to it mattering to gamers.
Wait for real benchmarks when they are released the AMD hypetrain just gets so out of control.
PS5, It looks like the Output take a look at the mounting of the fan where the brace meets the chassis to support the electromag motor.
Man I hate dustbuster fans, I hope they have the smarts to use a filter on the inlet that is removable for cleaning.
Please tell me that isn't an aluminum plate, liquid metal does not play well with aluminum at all. So I am going to guess its nickel plated steel?
If they would have used a vapor Chamber I would have been impressed. AT what point are they eventually just going to put an AIO cooler in there.
Nah Gordon Sony will probably sell a officially licensed drive.
They should be fully integrated PC hardware specialized hardware is always more expensive.
Gordon don't do it PS5 or a 3070 or add $200 and buy a 3080.
A game console is a novelty, If you want to be a productive member of society you need a PC, go to college and tell the professor your PS5 is your PC, see how that goes for you.
Ok I love the Raspberry Pi but it is not ok as a desktop for main use, Linux is an open source OS with enormous vulnerabilities and you are hamstrung in software choices, Its a bastard PC OD people love installing it and screwing around with it, but at the end of the day its a novelty which is why it is about 4% of all desktops connected to the Internet in Marketshare.
Good luck finding software to run Chemistry simulations for dissolving a living blob entity on your phone or PS5 even then it would probably take weeks to run.
Smartphone is a swiss army knife of electronics you can do alot with it Alaina. but it isn't good at any one of them other than taking calls, even texting is bad hence why people type in emoji, touch screen keyboards have always been a half measure hence why autotype was created, type me a 40 page report on the history of aids in africa and if you think you are going to use voice to type good luck with that.
You can do it Alaina it doesn't mean you should cell phone security is abysmal if you do your taxes on your phone you deserve to have to pay for lifelock 1 stingray is all it is going to take, travel to a different country where laws aren't clear cut and boop your life is gone and you will struggle for years trying to sort it all out.

The $500 PC or console question wasn't asked how Gordon framed it, so of course given his hypothetical the logical choice would be a PC. But if you are a normal -consumer- looking for something to play the latest -AAA- games for $500, your best option is a console. If you care about Sonys exclusives get a PS5, if you want Xbox exclusives then you should strongly consider a PC for the additional functionality and upgrade-ability (if you don't mind spending 2-4x as much for an equivalent gaming experience, but if you just want something for productivity or are a -PC elitist- who only cares about the best hardware, why would you even consider the consoles to begin with? Gordon ignored the spirit of the question and went straight into a PC elitist rant. For most people this isn't about -what's best- it's about -what's best for _gaming_ for $500-, so perhaps this is what's getting people riled up.
I play games on both PC and console because I care about the games. I have a PC that I play multi-platform and Microsoft games on and have pre-ordered a PS5 for Sonys unmissable exclusives. I'm not going to ignore the PS5 just because -PC better-. For me these platforms serve different purposes. To ignore consoles, especially PS5, if you legitimately care about good games is a huge mistake

Navi leak says 2. 2 - 2. 4 game clock, not just 2. 4. He actually shared three different game clock numbers with that being the highest. It's for AIB cards not reference design (another rumor) Basically AMD is allowing AIBs to crack up the power if they decide to (rumor.
Another leak is that they will introduce 6900XT, 6800XT and 6800 non XT with the rest of the lineup next year.
I 100% agree, AMD will not and should not cut their prices just to make people happy. We may save $50-100 but it won't be as low as people are hoping.
Would you as a business sell your part that is as good as competitors for hundreds less? Heck no, why would AMD? Remember Ryzen 5000 had a price -increase- AMD isn't afraid to charge more if they're better. Why charge less for equal performance (assuming it is equal). AMD is a business after all not a charity.
Raytracing is still a niche technology plus the majority of games do not support it currently. It also lowers performance. Personally I couldn't care less about RT performance.
We'll know in a week either way.

The chokes (inductors) are what's by his hand in slide #9 and #10. The actual mosfets (VRM) are on the other side of the motherboard. Which is where the funny looking aluminum heatsink is. Its a very unique design. Also, the Liquid metal SONY is using is not your average liquid metal. I've tested 3 of the top liquid metal's and Coollaboratory's Liquid Pro seemed to be the best. I'm using some on a 5. 3GHz i7 8700K at 1. 380v with the ring and AVX at 5GHz. Its been delided and running at 60c under load. Since launce no problems. So, about 3 years plus, then maybe start to keep an eye on it. SONY says there liquid metal can last at least twice as long. Gotta get me some of that.

Choosing to use liquid metal is a risky decision in my opinion. When the heatsink is removed, we can see that the liquid metal is not touching directly the copper heatsink. Instead it looks like there is a black surface protecting the copper. Gallium contained in some liquid metal can etch copper and reduce it's heat transference over time. I hope this was not a last minute decision and they tested this since all those years of development.

Personally, i think AMD need to price equivalently performing GPU products lower than Nvidia in order to grow marketshare. Gordon's thesis is a bit flawed because i think Nvidia has a lot of software advantages to AMD which, while not universal, provide added value if the cards are at the same price.
Though, to be fair, if you can buy a radeon and not a geforce, I'd definitely do it. so availability comes into play too.

It's always fun to listen to Gordon. In all seriousness though, he is right on his assessment of the PC vs console situation.
A PC is a tool for a whole lot more things than a console. Chances are you already have or need a PC for work (VMs, creative work, simulations or even just Office, and if you do the comparison isn't really that reasonable. For a lot of people it's more likely to be a console vs an upgrade for your PC.

-PC gaming is Superior--Gordon with Old gen console.
New 400$ console.
-PC gaming is totally different than console gaming and you can do stuff with it--Gordon with Navi/Zen Console. Oh how the argument changes.
PC gaming is a better platform and in 5 years. It will be Superior again when you can build a 400$ gaming PC that can beat it.
I stay away with the PC vs Console fights because it's petty.

I disagree with Gordon. If the Nvidia cards were widely available a week before the AMD event, then I would be more inclined to believe people who have been waiting for an Nvidia card would pull the trigger, but not when it's only a day apart because if they did buy the Nvidia card and it turned out the AMD card was better and cheaper, those people would feel like idiots.
Wow, that was a long sentence. LOL!

I agree with Adam on the photography. It's old school photo technique. I got into photography on a 35mm film camera with optical view finder so you learned to be very judicious with taking pictures because you were limited to 24 or 36 pictures per roll. For example, you learned to frame and crop your picture as you took the picture because you had limited shots, and the film and processing was not cheap.
