amd cards are great if your not using rtx but how many people want to spend over 400 uk pounds on cards that dont have a usable raytracing. dont get all the hype on amd. they arent lvl and they are chargeing to much as far as i can see in reviews, the ray tracing thing is being underplayed by you tubers becasue they want amd to like them. geting fed up of this i was wrong or wow amd when truthfully it should be great if you dont use ray tracing. i really think if cards wernt scarece the amd being same or mopre in price would limit their sales. if anything they should have been considerably less like 6800 400 uk pounds maybe even 350 buit not 380 pricing.
upgrading pc in 2021 but ill be going to a 5900x and use my 1070 amp extreme for my 4k projector as it upscales 1080p to 4k amazingly but im also buying a ps5 pro in 2022 and a xbox series x in 2021 instead of a gpu because a 70 series card is still over priced. i payed 300 uk pounds for a 970 g1 gamer not so many years ago, then i spend 429 2 years ago on the cheapest i could find yet best 1070 amp extreme. i put the rise to price the britexit and pouind drop and a hand full of notes for greedy retailers but when the 2070 series came out at 550 i thought it was a joke and now yes scalping and stuff but even at default theyll not be 450 pounds they claim. theyll be 550 again. and to me a 70 series is the true midranger, nvidia just want to move it up and make 2060 series the mid ranger and i hate that. a 70 series should alow most games on ultra for first year barring a setting or two. gpus suck at this time. because of the pricing.
also why is comp[etition good. am, d has been more expensive and intel hasnt lowed their pricing, yet to see any consumer benifit.

4K60+ GPU's are way overdue. This is 2020. That's why there are no cards available. Cause all Enthusiasts and PC Gamers are finally able to use there 5+ year old 4K60 TV's. I kind of lucked out. Well for a friend. I have a 2080ti FTW3 Ultra which, by the way has a much better cooler and design than the 3000 series FTW3 cards. By a mile. What was eVGA thinking. If i get a eVGA 3080 FTW3, i will be transplanting the 2080ti's FTW3 cooler 4sure. But, a friend was looking for a 3070, and while i was looking (at Micro Center) i found a brand new (open box but, still new) 55in. LG C9 4K120 OLED for $800 flat. Yup, i'll be taking that. I got 2 for $1800. in the last 2 months. The C9 has G-SYNC and now Freesync plus VRR with LG's new Firmware update. It also has the full 48Gbps HDMI 2. 1 ports without color compression, unlike on the CX models, that were giving some nVIDIA GPU's some issues. Also, with LG's custom SOC/AI a9 Upscaler, even 1440p looks close to 4K native. Who needs DLSS/2. 0. lol. Though, on my way to the GPU rack, guess what i saw, a Gigabyte Gaming OC 3070 for $515. I was definitely happy, cause i could get my friend the card he wanted, and for MSRP basically. But, the 55in LG C9 was the steal. This isn't even black Friday. So, i guess someone returned the 3070. Not sure why. Out of 30 Games i tested on the OLED. They all ran Flawless. And with a 5GHz+ 9900K and 8700K with 16GB's of 3600CL16 DDR4. Last Gen CPU's are a perfectly viable option for these new GPU's. You just got overclock the beHeZUZ out of'em.

My Deals in Nov 2019. The 2 TB storage for my desktop did cost me $70 in total. I have a 512GB SP nvme-SSD (TLC, 3200/2300 MB/s) and 2 reused HDDs (500 GB and 1 TB. The first 500GB of those HDDS are striped (ZFS file system, -200 MB/s) and it contains my Virtual Machine archives, my personal data, like music, family videos, photos etc. That type of personal data worked fine from an IDE HDD 20 years ago, so those semi-modern striped HDDs are super-fast. The last part of the 1 TB contains archives that are 10 - 30 years old, e. g floppy images of 16-bits software: )
Those VMs from the archives are used very infrequently and:
- You do not want a Windows 95 VM to load in -6 seconds, like my Xubuntu 20. 04 VM, that would spoil the whole retro experience: )
- The VMs in the vm-archive, that are still updated, are hibernated (Virtualbox: -save system state-, instead of -powered off-, so they are ready to use in the weekly updating day in less than 10 seconds instead of in around 60 seconds.

I live in the Dominican Republic and I buy the new modern small stuff (a motherboard has been the largest item) from the USA (Newegg. For the smaller stuff you have to add 25% - 30%. Tower cases, power supplies, consumables (USB sticks, mini SD cards) and older stuff (like a GeForce 8400GS in 2014) I bought locally. One kilometer from my house they have a large shop that sells off-lease PC products, that is very interesting too. I buy there USB mouses and keyboards from the USA for $2, a HP dc5850 with a Phenom X3 in 2014 for -$150 and a 24- Dell G2410H monitor in 2020 for -$77. New monitors you could maybe get for $100 from Newegg, but you have to add at least 40% for import duty and transport costs.

Here's my thing, comparing Radeon today vs Nvidia on launches is skewed IMO. Nvidia launched -September 17th-, nearly two and a half months ago but we should put AMD on a spike for not having more 8 days after launch? Wt$?
If it were January 31st and were still here I understand but come on. Let's not forget -TSMC has a 6 month waiting period- to schedule chips. Eerything AMD is producing comes out of their fab on the same 7nm node. Xbox X & S, PS5, Ryzen 3000 & 5000 plus mobile as well as 5000 & 6000 Radeon cards! AMD is not TSMCs only customer either. Nvidias 8nm comes from Samsung. perspective.

How pathetic do you have to be to get upset that you can't buy your precious $600+ video game hardware ASAP? There literally isn't anything that they're NEEDED for, any game you could want to play can be played on the last generation of cards no problem. But poor you, you can't get your insanely expensive luxury item RIGHT NOW.
This is insane. Welcome to the launch of a new generation of cards(or luxury items in general, everyone, same as its always been. Society full of entitled children.

If we get the cards available in Sweden, 6800 looks promising. Maybe less people buy that one (rather than 6800 XT, and from what I've seen it's performing well in Linux. That's the main reason I would buy it, to get stable Linux performance and try to get ray tracing workflow in Unreal Engine 4. Pretty much on par with next gen consoles.

18: 25 irony is that Cyberpunk is not even a next-gen game, it's just got delayed so much that it's finally coming out just around the time the next gen cards are out.
I wanted a RX 6800 XT to replace the VEGA 56 Crossfire cards I sold.

reply

Hey Brad, why didn't you say the same thing about Nvidia exotic 2 Kilograms cooler which was even higher bar than AMD's cooler which was harder for AIB to set the price at MSRP.
reply

I believe that Merc card is a bit too expensive for the current market. It's getting uncomfortably close to the RX 6900XT.
