Dell made this prototypes to grab headlines. Its clarly not practical, cant be used in the EU as its virtually impossible to use by the visually impaired or blind let alone for fully sighted persons.
Clearly manufacturing costs are rising and a whole spate of infantry was taken out to keep costs down. Whilst Dell failed to heed industry analysts it is quite incapable in moving away from the monopolies of intel and windows which took it to the steps of bankruptcy before.
Dell needs to start innovating not cutting costs to survive. Who will it appeal to? At 13 inches it is not productive and would be bought by existing shrinking pool of xps retail or acer aspire buyers. Clearly an intended concept fail from dell whilst buying time for AMD chips and linux eco systems to be developed.

Good review but this is not for me. Too many missing ports that are needed. No sd card slot, no headphone jack, no separation with touch pad or with the keyboard and only two usb c ports? No usb A ports and all. not one. Dell missed the mark on this one. Please don't do any of these -upgrades- with the 17 inch XPS. Add a usb A port to the 17 inch along with a number pad.

No headphone jack = no sale.
I like using my wired headphones on my laptop. I don't want to be needing round with Windows Bluetooth, and I don't want to be messing around charging a Bluetooth headphones jack in the middle of the day.
They'd better keep the jack on the 15- version when it comes out as that's the one I'd want to buy.

This is why you don't simply let the design school grads run the show. Sure, it looks cool, but it's impractical with some real world annoyances, and will inevitably alienate some of its potential customers. There's lots of competition that also looks nice, but offers more practical solutions, and often for much less money.

Don't know if anybody else has noticed this, but among longtime Dell users, the design of the XPS 13 Plus is familiar. In short, its keyboard looks almost exactly like the Adamo 13 -- and its capacitive touch row looks exactly like that on the old Adamo, whic had volume and audio/video control icons lit up above the keyboard.

Don't know if anybody else has noticed this, but among longtime Dell users, the design of the XPS 13 Plus is familiar. Why jaja just why remove he 3. 5mm? Ande every other single port, Is a laptop, what if you want to plug something while charging and you don't have the dongle, it's just no sense.
Even Apple is getting back the ports jaja and this came with soldered ram and no ports, just useless

No headset jack is a problem for me. I'm not sure that I like the -hidden- trackpad, either, and for my uses, the lack of SD card slot is another negative. When I travel, the last thing I need is to carry around a bunch of dongles to facilitate doing simple things.

instead of this a 14 inch version with a 2. 8K display, larger trackpad, a dedicated GPU, larger battery, Quad Speakers, more ports by making chassis slightly thicker, a 1080p webcam and good cooling and ventilation system.

No OLED, no headphone jack, no dedicated graphics card, I know the XPS doesn't normally have one but i'm sadly gonna have to get a different laptop

Dell computers are notorious fireballs. I'm 99% sure this thing will be no different. It will attempt to melt itself within the first week of ownership.
