Intel is Intel is Intel = Grab due to We ARE the Tip of the PC Spear mentality. Their business acumen hasn't changed since Core2 Days when they left AMD in the Dust. I kept my LGA 775/773 PCs going until AM4 Platform matured at Zen+/Zen2 juncture. I now have 4 AM4 PCs for my extended family; as I upgraded the primary PCs, the 1700X went into a Plex Server (B450/16GB). I forsee my Family Gaming PC (X470 Taichi/64GB 3600CL16) receiving the 5800X3D or 5900X (Price & Family Vote); my Grandson's School PC will receive a Birthday upgrade, 2700X to 3900X, with the 2700X going to pasture in another Plex Server (B450/16GB 3200CL16 Ram).

My rule on when to buy is in the first 40%-50% of the product cycle. But I prefer to just buy something new right when it comes out. The last thing you want is to buy something at the wrong time just for the new product to come out and be way better while at the same time making the one you purchased cheaper because it's now discounted. AND... 1080p will be gone before too long. You mentioned the Series X sells better. That's because of the 4k. My brothers are council players, and they won't get the Series S because it doesn't do 4k. That's why the S does not sell.

The true war on the horizon for DIYers is The GPU Wars, both Tech Edition & Price/Availability Editions. My Rule of Thumb for my PC Family is the mythical 300-600 MSRP for GPUs. I'm trying to mentally hold the Graphic Divas to their word, offering RTX2080Ti performance at 500 US or so. I'm still conflicted with all the Next-Gen Graphics Tech. (RT et.al.) and its relevance to us, the consumer. The Divas really need to come together and create a standard set of Features/Technologies so the Fog of Perceived Better Tech can be removed from the equation.

I LOVED Gordon's UI rant.........the UI he describes is Gnome3/Gnome Shell in Linux. Its just a search bar eating paste in the corner. EDIT: Intel Arc is just Raja pulling another Vega.......EDIT2: I'm on a 1080Ti and I have ZERO plans to upgrade but I play at 2560x1080 at 144Hz and its fine. I did grab my GF a 12700F on a B660 and it screams (she is a heavy multitasker tho).

Despite the GPUs meeting their MSRP prices, my main question is: Should I replace my Ryzen 3 2200G ( 99) by a Ryzen 5 4600G ( 154)?
2.2x the CPU performance for 1.5x the price :)
