Intel and AMD are in an arms race to get the fastest and most powerful CPU, and because of that they are having to dial up power draw in order to get there. So how much power does the Core i9-13900K draw and how much heat is it producing? In this video Gordon goes over his testing. Opius11: If you want to limit the voltage, just buy a lower class CPU... It's like saying, I will buy a race car, but take out 2 pistons from the engine. Well, then you should have bought MX5 and not a race car. Same in PC world, save yourself some money, buy a lower spec CPU, and be content that that is what you needed.

Power limiting isn't exactly undervolting. Lowering VCore can further increase efficiency (at the cost of the user's time to achieve stability) which is essentially voltage limited overclocking. It is another interesting thing to investigate; which company's silicon has more headroom to perform more efficiently under the stock voltage curves.

I think that people over-reacted to AMD's higher thermal limit. When it came to both new generations, I think it's going to make sense to tune down the chips back into the realm of reasonable.

Thanks for all the work you put in Gordon and team, but buy was this a hard video to watch, both boring and oozing with frustration... what a silly CPU this 13900 is...

And don't understand why you don't care the difference for gaming... 500W VS 550W in a game, or 75 VS 125W for web browsing, that's still a 50W difference.

At this point, most mid-range builds that would utilize this CPU would need seperate power for that and the mother board.
