The design language is almost a mirror image (aside from the depth of the grips, which do look more comfortable) of the ally, down to the screen-side button placements, d-pad, back buttons, and overall shape. That's not a bad thing, I really like the ally, having come from the Deck and before that the Aya Neo 2021 Pro. I'm also just wondering how the intel APU will fare side by side with a Z1 Extreme or 7840U, especially considering they both have 1080P 120hz displays. The bigger battery is nice but also the Ally is so much lighter in hand than the Aya or Deck, and I normally plug it in or play low watt games when I know I won't be near an outlet. Whatever the case competition is never a bad thing.

I recently got a steam deck oled, and i gotta say, the touchpads and the overall user experience is amazing. From a day to day perspective, I've been playing kingdom come: deliverance (steam version) and I enjoy it so much more than playing it on my PS5. The touch pads though! I think are essential for a mobile desktop environment. I actually use them instead of the right stick when i play kingdom come. Its more mouse-like and feels way more accurate than the stick does.
Im stoned so hopefully this made sense!

Very weird decision from MSI to go with 16gb Ram when All the competitor is having mods to 32gb because soon you share the memory with GPU windows eat all and usually not enough for some games quite limit, personally I don't see any extra on the top of the others pretty basic with a Intel chip provably will consume a lot and the battery will have not have big impact more then others.
To be honest disappointed so far. Just a grab cash. Maybe I'm wrong let see.

I think it's cool that there will be a Intel handheld on the market, so we can see how that works out when it comes to performance, support by Intel etc.
I will still stick with my Legion Go as it's the perfect handheld for me. I might get a second handheld in 1-2 years. There will be more handhelds coming in 2024 that is not revealed yet. There were 4 new PC handhelds revealed in January 2024 already.

Thunderbolt 4 can't compete with Oculink and other proprietary solutions. Intel disappointed me by not having Thunderbolt 5 integrated.
Gaming Handhelds have made eGPUs viable since the iGPU is not there yet and dGPUs are not viable.
It is a shame we have to wait for Arrow Lake to get 80G bandwidth for eGPUs.
I keep wishing on of these Handhelds will use solid state AirJet cooling from Frore.

The design and software looks so cool... It's a shame they only using intel ... That intel ultra 7 only has minimum tdp of 15 watts, requires 30 watts to get similar performance to 25watt ally,... And worst of all, Xess is much worse in both availability and performance compared to fsr or dlss, and that is a big concern as these handhelds only has a igpu to power the games

I remember back in the day when Qualcomm cpus were dominating the smartphone market and Asus decided to launch the zenfone with an intel cpu. I was excited and decided to try it myself, I still regret my choice to this day.
I hope intel manage to do a good job with this handhelds. I ll keep the Deck because I like the OS more, but competition is always good

Nice Device, but the problem is the well-known human theme, higher faster further. The new devices are not trying to outdo each other in efficiency, but in hardware power, and that's exactly what doesn't make sense in a handheld in 2024, handhelds are intended for mobility, so battery life is most important, not that you can drive sub 2K on the tiny display.

It looks like they almost copied the rog ally and decided to change the chip at the last minute to avoid any issues, the cooling is even very similar even though its i guess it's pretty common laptop cooling configuration, wonder how well the intel hardware will work with freesync on the vrr screen. I wish the ally had come in black though.

Wait until we see how well the drivers work... Intels Problem have been the drivers for decades!
There have been Intel handhelds, they delivered performance on paper but failed miserably in the driver quality so games did not work, hat problems etc...Besides that again no touchpads, just a controller with a screen form factor!

I originally thought: Oh, there will be 4 gaming handhelds competing against each other! Competition is good, and there's something for everyone!
But... I'm not sure if that's true. Seems more like Steam Deck vs. three battery-guzzling Windows handhelds. At least there's competition in the latter department.

Most new pc handheld alot make it only work with few type of hands. This one can be a problem with smaller hands how he explain it to how to hold it. One other part really just look like ally but in black. Don't mind MSI and intel coming in the ring let see what they bring to the table ones it's out.

1:16 LETS TO! IM SO GLAD THEY CARE ABOUT THE BATTERY!
honestly thats the only reason why i went for the deck instead of the ally, the battery is much better
Im so glad they put it in mind along with performances rather than just care about specs and leave batteries at the end of the list

whoever made the NEW playstation Streamable should be fired... did absolutely not look at the market the last 3 years.... since 4 years there was a rising interrest for retro consoles with more power... switch exists... Sony is cool but the stream device is BS.
Looks cool - nice video dude

I liked when something like the rog ally released, but now its basically the companies just hopping on the trend for money, I hate it. They're all the same, all of them have nothing unique, even the OS, the legion at least couldve turned its joycon into a mouse, but really this is just boring...

MSI is getting it wrong. We need the perfect handheld, not this. We need 1080p, Oled screen (not IPS), VRR and it should ship with working linux. That way we can always install windows if we want. That is the perfect handheld. This, is just a other option with big sacrifices, again

So you telling me this is 800 for the most spec out model and you get hall effect joysticks and triggers, a 1080p screen, good battery, a nice design and rgb in buttons?
If this performs as well as promised, this could literally be the best handheld in the market holy crap

It looks like a black ROG ally powered by intel meteor lake.
And if you know the performance of the lackluster meteor lake to amd's apu.. you got your answer to the performance. It just got better ram speeds and battery to mask intel's mediocre launch of this architecture

Meteor lake is a step above the RDNA 3 graphics in terms of performance. It also benefits from faster ram a lot more with it's integrated Arc based graphics. There are benchmarks that shows almost 1000 points higher in timespy with meteor lake than RDNA3 based Ryzen 7 apu's
