As a computer technician and a former die-hard Intel fanboy, I finally made the switch to AMD with a 9950X3D, paired with a 4090 Founders Edition, ASUS X870E Apex, Samsung 9100 Pro 2TB , Two 4TB Samsung 990 EVO Plus drives, and 96GB of G.Skill DDR5-6000. I’m running Thermal Grizzly’s AM5 Direct Die Pro water block, a 420mm Heatkiller radiator, and a D5 EK pump/res combo. Honestly, Intel is still the king when it comes to overclockingrock solid, no glitches, and no weird audio issues. That said, AMD’s made huge strides this year. But let’s be real: AMD GPUs still suck. Every time I walk down the street, it feels like NVIDIA jumps me and steals my lunch moneybut I keep going back because their GPUs are just better, no matter what the internet echo chamber says. Right now, AMD clearly leads in CPU performance for gaming and productivity. Before this generation though, let’s not kid ourselvesAMD CPUs were trash outside of EPYC, and that’s a whole different game that doesn’t apply to most gamers.

If I was there and asked that question...AMD all the way baby whoooo! In all seriousness, running Linux Mint on my gaming PC, AMD GPU's have been plug and play for me with Linux. Nvidia (GTX1080ti) getting it to work after Nvidia open sourced their drivers was a headache, still didn't work quite right once I got everything installed in the command line. I also think the writing is on the wall for Nvidia selling GPU's for gaming, I'm sure their GPU's will still work for gaming (might even work better since being optimized for AI related applications) in the coming years, but since Nvidia is moving on from bothering with PC gaming industry, I really believe there will be some insanely exciting things in the coming years that AMD makes happen while keeping their prices reasonable, kind of like what happened when the Zen architecture put them way ahead of Intel. It will also be exciting to see what Intel does with their GPU's in the coming years!

My old computer had Intel i7 (11th Gen) with nVidia GTX 2060. When it died, I built a new one with AMD Ryzen 7 and an AMD Radeon 6600 GPU. I've since rebuilt the old computer (needed a new motherboard, but I replaced the PSU and fans, including the CPU fan). While I do game some, I don't do any triple A games and I don't run anything higher than 1080p resolution.
While I can admire the aesthetically pleasing builds others make, I have no interest in having RGB on my own computer. I'm just interested in functionality and performance.
I've heard some criticisms of Intel CPUs, but as I understand it, it's the generations after the one I have. I don't recall what the criticisms of nVidia are, and haven't really paid attention to Intel's GPUs.

These Intel CPU bro's are asking for a hurting. Intel is notorious right now for putting out bad CPU's AMD on the other hand is not. While fixes have been implemented, some users continue to experience problems. Those fixes are called firmware that throttles the voltage but still hasn't helped. Better buy AMD people.

The first time I went to a Microcenter, it looked like a bunch of nerdy, geeky, casual place. And then I saw what people had in their shopping carts walking out the door and my first thought was how all of these ordinary-looking people have the disposable income to shop there. And it struck me that these people aren't ordinary. From the perspective of income and the skills and willingness to learn how to build systems. The Microcenter I visited was in Cambridge so there were probably some number of Harvard, MIT, Boston University and Northeastern Students there; and Boston tech workers too. Microcenter is definitely a cool place and it's hard to get an idea of the stores from a video.

AMD Ryzen 5900 - AMD RX 6800 - Mid Tower Fractal Torrent - No RGB
I've been building PCs since my brother introduced my at 11 years old.
My next build might just be an AMD Mini PC, or maybe a Mini ITX PC. Would be nice if AMD would make a nice desktop APU, so that I could just go with that. I'm not really doing a lot of AAA gaming these days, so I don't feel the need for a dedicated GPU. That said, if I do go for a dedicated GPU next time, it will probably be another AMD, unless the AI market starts to dwindle enough that NVIDIA actually try with their low-to-mid-range GPUs.

Idc if ur an Nvidia shill for a reason but in this market the 9000 series has really good feature ste to the point whichever gpu is the cheapest for the performance ur looking for is what u should get it which in this market is usually AMD. Same thing happens with phones. People buy apple not cause of the hardware ir software feature set it comes with but because they are too lazy and comfortable to research what they are spending their hard earned dollars on

It’s funny I’ve been talking about and ryzen degradation since 3000 series and everyone said I was wrong yet I have a pile of dead ryzen chips. Nobody wants to talk bad about amd and speak up and it’s honestly sad to see how many people will hide the truth to backup a company that doesn’t even know you exist. The chips are good but they do not last for the most part. Crazy how they report amd degradation every generation but nobody talks about it

I have an R7 9700X (recently upgraded from an R5 3400G) and an RX 6800. If prices were better and VRAM more plentiful, I would upgrade to a 5070 regular or TI. I will just wait until the next generation. I also decided to add more RGB with my CPU upgrade. I got an LED strip, RGB RAM, and RGB fans with infinity mirrors. It turns out my monitor has RGB but I never used it and my mouse and keyboard also have RGB.

AMD Graphics card because they have open-source drivers on Linux delivering the best performance. AMD performance is usually even better on Linux than on Windows, and I wholeheartedly believe it's because they open-sourced their drivers. Nvidia can't seem to get the same performance increase on Linux compared to Windows as AMD can do.

I've been building PCs for the last year now and every build has been Intel based, mostly cause that's what's at my disposal. My only experience with two AMD laptops were very negative. Both were horrifically slow and limited in their integrated graphics. I can't remember the chips but they were both 2014 and 2016, non-Ryzen chips.

I think it only matters greaty at the high end which one you get. At 1080p amd, intel, nvidea will work. Cpu, amd is best, gpu nvidea is best but very expensive, best for dollar at mid end is amd, intel is a reasonable option at entry level, it will work for most things! 14.6.2025 (this comment may not date well) apple is not for gaming!

to be real its all marketing slop. in reality the x3d chips are only on top in carefully manicured benchmarks at 1080p when in reality people are all trying to game at 2k and 4k. a 265k beats out a 7800x3d and is basically on par with a 9800x3d in a real world situation for less money.

i have 4 computers 2 amd 2 intel cpu and 2 amd 1 nvidia 1 intel gpu so 12400f with 9070xt as a console for tv , r3 3600 with 6750xt not using it rn , 7800x3d with b580 and my main is 13900ks with 4090
And i can say i can face to problems with every gpu but no problem with any cpu

Was building a 14900k and 4080 but took it back and now going with 9950x and 7900 xtx :) 14900k was glitchy and crashing and well the news about them made me change my mind. Going watercool and dont feel like switching mobo and cpu one day cause the cpu is dead or degrading.

I think one issue amd has, is that barely any pre build and laptop use their gpus and cpus. Yes even cpu, more often I see intel. Sometimes they make me feel like they have agreed with each other. Ok guys I have the consoles and handheld devices, you get laptops and pc.

I like midtower cases cause their size brings me nostalgia for my first pc a Hp prebuilt from costco. So their size looks like avg but when you choose every part theyre so much better than the avg prebuilt of the same size.
