Great tutorial. since I am a self taught intermediate user, I found this very helpful for small spots. I have always used the clone stamping tool because it gives me more creative control. I think you still need to develop the clone skill in order to paint, restore, remove, or repair larger affected areas. The only thing you missed was the brush hardness when using the spot healing brush. If you are working with skin or other rough textures, I will set the hardness to a value between 35 and 40 so there would be no need to use the opacity selector. Also you get a more smoother look this way without leaving behind hard or light circles when playing with opacity. Also, if you select an area with the selection tool, then use the remove noise feature and then resharpen the image that will get rid of some of the shiny or oily look on the skin. For some reason, the image of the woman's skin looks a little dry to me. I like to leave a little moisture on the skin for realism if I am working with family photos or professional headshots. If you are working with model images for magazine print, then you will want to remove most of the skin moisture and go for that glamour or high fashion look.

Best food I ever had. I have been struggling with severly scratched dark areas in old photo resturation. Darken mode on a separet layer just solved this for me. There are many other problems in restoration I am still struggling with. It would be nice to have a tutorial on that. Most often these are bw pictures or sepia and the problems are for example clouds of scratches and wear, silvering and corse noise that are difficult to solve with the stamp tool or spot healing brush. If I could tell ps to fill in light on dark or dark on light in an efficient way I would be the happiest chap in the universe.

You make learning photoshop interesting and easy. I have been using the Spot Healing Brush tool for a while now but not with much success may I add. This tutorial was an eye opener and I can go back to a lot of my images and rework them with the desired results. Your explanations leave me with a feeling of light at the end of the tunnel.

12: 58 tends to happen a lot with me when I'm trying to remove blemishes. Why do surrounding areas appear like that? How can I fix it, like if I am trying to remove tattoos from a picture that are very close together, it just tends to add more of those tattoos that are close together, how do I fix that so it does not happen?

Lighten targets areas that are lighter? Or is it the other way around? You confused me when speaking of the darken mode using the spot healing brush on the lips about 7: 30 into the video. I just want to make sure I understand. Your teaching of photoshop is awesome!

Yes. Very well done. So many of the tricks Photoshop can do are so well hidden that it isn't easy to discover them. Who in their right mind would think to put the cursor to the right of a layer thumbnail and right click. Wow. A whole bag of secret goodies. Thanks.

Great video, love the way you do the tutorials.
Can you make a video about monitor calibration and how to calibrate it to get the most out of the pictures?
And man you sing so AWESOME, I hope we could see more covers/originals by you!

Wow! I will never edit photos by clone stamp alone anymore! This is perfect for many fixes, it makes the spot healing brush a far more accurate tool!
Thank you! Just saved me a ton of time!

Really love your tutorials, they are very good for real world usage. Can't stand your new stage backdrop, it is so distracting and dark. Maybe get it out of focus or go back to the uniqueness of the white backdrop
