Waze is a great addition to Google but not so the other way round.....google map still is far more superior in terms of features... i.e how impossibly difficult or your overpaid imagination does it take to realized the importance and usefulness of an option displaying all our favorite places at one glance on the map like that in google map?....so now most will need to jungle in and out of two different map apps and let the pedestrians fend for themselves....and nO unlike most of your silicon minimum wages my corolla do not have autopilot like most of your coalpowered green cars.......what about being able to random pin drop with custom labels on a random spot with a simple hold and type??......tho im not saying one should but most wazers are active driving while multitasking a million things so even an additional click will most likely distract their eyes off the road for at least one second.....does anyone know how many feet can a car travel within the legal speed limit? Im sure i can run over at least 5 dogs

I don't have a display in my car, so I only use Android Auto on my phone that is on a dashboard mount. I would like the option of being able to switch between Waze and Google Maps in Android Auto. I've seen other videos where that is an option when you have a display. I can't seem to make that happen with the just the app on my phone. I have done what you say, in the video. I have gone into Settings >>> Apps and then cleared the defaults for both Waze and Maps. I then set the Permissions to Always Ask for both apps. After doing this, Android Auto continues to default to Google Maps and doesn't offer Waze as an option. Please tell me what I would need to do differently.

Update 04/12/18: On newer versions of Android, following the steps in the video will make Waze the default navigation app for Android Auto , while Maps will be the default when viewing on your phone. The additional step of disabling Maps on your phone is now needed to make Waze the default.

my phone runs Android 7.0 and I don t have this option to select open by default i have this problem with all apps not just with Waze, let s say I open an Amazon link it doesn t ask me how I wanna open it, even i cleared all cach and app data, very frustrating

Hello, so I download the maps for offline use, and restarted the google map app for android, turned off wifi to test but does that mean no search function for offline use?

Looks like many of us has gone through the same problem in making this work. I also tried it but didn't work. I even disabled Google map and still went to the map.

For Waze I use navigation. For looking at the map I need Google maps. Does it make this distinction? I am too lazy to check and the answer could benefit more people.

Thnx man I had to disable Maps in order for it to open WAZE up as Default. Edit: Guess it would've helped if I read your pinned comment first lmao
