Is the Microsoft Launcher for Android any good? On Android, being able to customize the look and feel is one of the key reasons why many people choose to use that operating system. Installing a new launcher is an excellent way to customize your phone with minimal effort. There are several great launchers to choose from for Android that can change the look of the home screen and app grid, along with many other customization options to suit your needs. One I ve been testing out for the past month is Microsoft Launcher. In this review and mini-tutorial, I ll share with you the key features that I like, go over some of the settings and let you know if it s any good. John: TechGumbo, I noticed you have the Ecobee app. on you home page. Is there any way to show the current temperature within the app icon on the home screen? This is possible with live tiles on the old windows phone, but also on windows tablets. Similar live tile information is to show distance/steps/cal on the fitibit app, or current podcast in your podcast playlist. Otherwise I don't see much of a point of the MS launcher, since moving the launch icons around and setting background screen is fine with default Android. But maybe I'm missing something.

I'm having difficulty with my installation of the app. I use Android KitKat, but I'm not sure if the fact that it's an older version of Android is the reason I have fewer options than you have. For example, Bing wallpapers only works partially for me, it changes everyday but does not allow me to change it quickly with an allocated gesture. Another thing is that the blur effect when the transparent theme is applied is completely greyed out for me. I've had issues with Cortana but that's down to the fact that it's not supported in my country. Overall, although I like the app, with some versions it leaves much to be desired, especially since it literally dangles features right in front of your face.

This is a very very intelligent move by Microsoft. They re using the half of a million users (and more to come) as testers and at the same time they re preparing people for a new Microsoft phone that will hit the market. Microsoft soft might have killed their phone s os, but they ll never give up on the phone itself. You ll remember me. This launcher is amazing and is completely free with no ads, why? Yup. Anyway, I ve had two issues with it. First, it uses a ton of resources and it sucks the battery much quicker than normal. Second and related to first, it lags at times to a point of a complete freeze. They re polishing it, though. They ll surprise us all soon.

Thank you for this. I bought a new pc and on seeing it up it asked for my phone number and if I wanted to download an app. To make it easier to use with phone. Before I knew it my whole phone had clanged and I instantly paniced for a second. Then I thought I would just look on YouTube. Even though I have a Note 8 I was able to use your instructions to quickly find how to change began browsers. I just wanted to say thanks so I didn't have to uninstall etc so I can Swap between them while learning and testing. different ones. I will continue watching now.

Nice video! I have both Action Launcher Plus (in my spare phone) and Nova Launcher Prime (in my tablet) but I like this on my main phone. For me this is the only one where Dashclock widget works flawlessly (time always stops updating on the other launchers). I also like how they made the app drawer: segregated alphabetically and you can go directly to where the app you want is located by tapping on the letter at the side of the screen.

Would be nice if you could lock the screens. I sometimes turn my phone on (Note 4) to find that the icons have moved or disappeared from the screen and I have to hunt them down and put them back. It's particularly annoying when the App Drawer icon goes missing. And getting that double row of icons at the bottom to scroll up and show the second row just doesn't work for me any more.

This is actually one of the best Launcher for Android. It looks great and works very well. I have paid for other launchers including nova and eve. But, I haven't used any other since I installed this launcher. I'm not into too customization or messing with my screen settings. This gives pretty much every basic options and some more. Perfect for set once and forget about it life.

Currently this is the best Launcher. Light, fast and full of necessary features. Plenty gestures support. Frequently used apps and quick contacts on feed page are quite essential. I've also installed LaunchBoard app which I trigger with gestures to easily find the needed app with just two taps. Has Zooper, KWGT and icon masking support. Lastly, is free with no Ads.

Microsoft Launcher is one of the best launchers, indeed. I don't really need more features, may be a user adjustable weather widget. Transitions are smooth, some unique functionality is offered, such as the information page, and it just works and looks fine. The only thing I don't like is the huge memory footprint.
