I can attest to how important this stretching is. I started having wicked shoulder/shoulder blade pain in my late 30s. For almost a year, I couldn't figure out why and finally went to a doctor and was ready to hear I needed surgery or something really involved because I'd damage something and/or was just getting older. I kind of rolled my eyes and thought what a waste of time when all he did was give me some exercises to do to strengthen certain parts of my back and stretches for my chest (like shown here) because he thought my pec muscles were causing my shoulders to round forward and pinch a nerve. Lo and behold, not even two weeks later and the pain was COMPLETELY gone. The guy didn't even charge me for the visit

Your videos and products are amazing! I'm 66 and have always worked out since I was 14. You finally gave me information on how to do it correctly. I watch and take notes to bring to the gym. Can you do video on neck and head. I went to a chiropractor that adjusted my neck. even tho I told him to not go near it. I stopped going to him!
It now locks up at certain points. I do stretching and that helps. I know you know better exercises I could do everyday. I sleep on a neck pillow and use it when I watch TV for support.
Thank you, Michael( I'm a Senior but not feeling that way because of your exercises)

will a tight pec minor cause issue with the serratus muscles when I reach overhead with my right arm, upper back clunks and i constantly have upper back/neck pain. i find myself using my palms to push and pull my chest down and away from my collar bone while I turn my head and look up. I have had this problem for years and cannot work it out, go to physio and we know whats not working, my scapula doesnt go through its full range of motion and its looking like theres some interference or weakness with the serratus. If I do a push up plus, or any rowing or pull ups, I get serious neck pain the following days.

Hello Jeff, I have learned soooo much from your vids but may I please request or even offer some food for thought I wish you would show the movement FIRST, then take the time to explain it. I don't want to liken this to clickbaitin' because it's not. But please consider the benefit and effectiveness of quickly showing the recommended movement and then explaining why. Your vids are effective and helpful to COUNTLESS people. just please consider that many want to get to the heart of the matter and then take the time to watch and listen to the why's and how's. Thanx for all you do!

I would love to see a discussion between you and Eric Janicki specifically about shoulders, pecs, and stretching them via flyes.
Because once I started performing flyes with a very similar technique to his, with very low weight and as a secondary movement, my shoulder pain significantly reduced in a pretty short time span.
And that technique is sort of the opposite of what you are doing here.

Thanks Jeff! Great video as always.
I am hoping that someday you can do a video for us over 55 group of an effective weekly workout for building and maintaining muscle.
I currently workout 4 days a week and strength after each workout. I also do your 6 minute a workout 4 days per week.
Thanks for all you do!

Stretching for hypertrophy: I've been doing dead hangs for 4 months, but I perform a scapular raise with slight elbow bend (think partial static curl) and try to hold for 30 seconds (underhand/supinated grip. during this time, I haven't done a single curl, but my bicep peaks are developing nicely.

I've been working on this with my PT. He stretches my shoulder socket--not the muscles per se, like a gorilla trying to pull his cage apart. Does some intense work on pec minor stretching and motion. He has given me exercises with elastic bands that also work rotator cuffs. PTs are incredible!

I'm afraid that I am unsymmetrical Left pec, shoulder, arm because I use my left arm a lot more at work, I try to switch sides but it's awkward especially because I'm right handed but my left dominants coordination but I also sleep on my left side only(sinus issue)

Has Jeff been this size for quite some time and is this his natural potential limit Meaning, this is as much muscle Jeff can grow naturally
Is Jeff’s muscle development about average for a natural lifter at his age for all age groups

How does direct stretching after a workout impact recovery, since you're worsening the damage I was told it would slow down the recovery proces. Not saying stretching isn't important but just after a workout or with heavy soreness. Any idea's

Thank you for this video. Well, all of them. I have been in pain for the last few days and was not able to get the right stretch. My pain reduced significantly from holding the first position in the video.

Kinda nice to know I've been doing it right the whole time
After my shoulder surgery the bad method hurt, so i started doing this just because i could feel the stretch without shoulder pain

Hey Jeff. Thanks for your tips and suggestions! I always forget to stretch after. Always before. Every human being needs our muscles activated before stressing them. Stretching addresses that

I was in a knee scooter a couple years ago after breaking my foot and it killed my shoulder. I learned this stretch in one of your older videos and it fixed it almost overnight. Thanks!
