X - Just because you can't see your back when you look in the mirror, doesn't mean that you have to train it any less. In fact, with many guys suffering from either low back pain or undeveloped back muscles, it's important that you not only workout your back but that you do it right! In this video I'm going to show you how the top 5 back workout mistakes that you could be making in the gym could be holding back how big a back you can safely develop. Things like the position of your lower back during every back exercise to the grip that you use when doing pullups, to the type of muscle contraction that you perform on every rep, you're going to see that even the little things add up when it comes to back training. Remember, if you find any of these tips helpful then be sure to head over to to

So after watching this video twice I've noticed a few things.
Blunder #1: blunder 3 and 5 are generally the same blunder. When you blunder your lower back, you're gonna blunder your upper back.
Blunder #2: the -false grip- this guy refers to is blundered because the olympic definition of false grip is unblundered. Basically his false grip and the olympic false grip are two different things. Actually he blundered on his blunder.
Blunder #3: the extreme blunderness of ultimate blunderism is the fact that this guy knows how his body works, obviously, but should maybe stop trying to instruct people and just focus on being ripped.
Blunder mifflin!

IMPORTANT MEMBERSHIP CANCELLATION INFO: Once you sign an Edge contract the only way out of it is if it expires, you move or you have a medical condition. Oh and they need proof. Never will I do business with them again. Signed up a month ago and just found out I'm moving. oh wait did I add if you move and your within 15 miles of an Edge you cant use moving as an excuse to cancel (my new place has a gym. The gym is fine but the way they conduct business is underhanded and dishonest. oh oh oh wait. and if you move away and do want to transfer your membership (only the cheaper one. guess what? You cant! you have to upgrade and pay more every month

You tend to see a lot of guys on high row machines leaning back into and using momentum, for the longest time I thought -I- was doing something wrong by not leaning back, but I kept at it because it didn't feel right to do it that way.
I absolutely hate pull ups because my forearms tend to take the lead, and there isn't anywhere at my gym you can do them without having to include a vertical jump, which I feel isn't the right way to start. I suppose I'll have to McGuyver something up

ok so i have an anatomic question. for exercise #1, the way your upper body is lined up, it looks like the exercise is some weird variation of a pull down (even you say this in the video. my question is that if that is so, and i totally agree that it is, why is it that it targets the upper body more? i know that the lats arent totally out of the equation, but from the video it even looks like most of the contraction is in the upper back rather than the lats. why is that?

ok after watching the first 4 minutes this is video is really bad, no need for all these weird variations of normal exercises all you need to do is to use good posture when training back, meaning pop you chest out, and work without cheating using momentum, meaning lowering weights in order to keep the posture correct and get the full contraction of your back muscles (not arm of rear delts. sorry about any bad English.

Just watched another video from 2017 and what you said at the end about -it doesn't matter about the rep count it matters about the contraction during the excercise is why we listen to you. Consistency is the key to trust on YT and Jeff is the one to go to to understand how and why to lift. Thanks again for these videos!

Dude that chin up finger grip technique is awesome, I can feel my back engaged a lot more and can do more reps. The closed fist grip is awful for doing back, It was all the arms doing the work, No wonder my forearms would hurt. I sincerely thank you for your great advice and different techniques. Cheer's.

I believe in momentum when you are 'dropsetting' the exercise,
you should never start whit an exercise in which you have to use momentum to be able to do it. if you need momentum on the 6+ rep i can understand since you're doing a mini dropset at that moment, since your body mechanically lowers the weight

If using a lat pulldown machine versus the cables, would it benefit the back workout to turn around so that your back rests against the pad instead of your chest? In my head, hearing what you just said about using the momentum would be eliminated by not being able to jerk back.
