This, itself, is a leg workout of sorts. In martial arts, for certain styles, you're recommended to hold some stances for a certain period of time. Not only does this count as a test, but it also counts as a leg strengthening circuit to strengthen the legs overall. It's just as intense as doing moving leg strength workouts. Right now, it's raining in my area, & I can't do my normal leg work outside. W/ limited space, doing this will not only test my knees, but also give me the burn on my legs, working them out in a way. Two birds in one stone. Doing the same tests on this video, but this time, raising the calves, works the calves, too. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be doing this now before I start my day. Athleticism is not only found in mobility, but also stability, & this leg -circuit- does the trick. Just saying that for everyone to see the unorthodox benefits of doing these. Thank you =.

I tore my ACL twice. Both from landing after jumping for a football. I am well past my second surgery -recovery- (estimate: 14 months post Op. I still can not flex quad like it supposed to. For example; if I sit on the ground the back of my knee will not touch the ground. I am aware that the straightening of the knee was supposed to be attacked WAY early on, but I fear that scar tissue has formed and I will never get full flexion of my quad back. I have knee pain and I believe that-s why. It-s been so long after surgery that I do not think I can do anything about it. I am really in a bad situation at 19 years of age trying to at least run track again, putting football on the back burner. No one has really been able to help.

13 years ago, I was on the Appalachian Trail, in the Hundred Mile Wilderness, when my pack racked across my back, my left knee twisted, and I collapsed on the ground. Had to keep moving because of the mosquitoes. After about a week my knee was ok but my right ankle was a mess. Now I have seasonal left knee pain, and more occasionally in my right ankle. Usually not so bad. But enough to change how I walk down stairs. I'm doing Xero and it seemed I could hold a wall sit for a long time, so I tried the third one-leg-off-the-ground test, and I could hold myself up on my left leg for only a few seconds. I'll be doing more wall sits and also that hip abduction exercise mentioned in another video.

This is incredible. There's a lot of bro science out there and I'm very grateful that you're covering these preventative exercises. As someone w/ multiple old injuries, however, I can tell you US medicine is WAY behind the Chinese in this area. You guys really need to get some Tui Na and bone setting specialists from China. You would see recovery and quality of recovery shoot way up. The Chinese view the body as an interconnected system which is ESSENTIAL to phys therapy. I'm proof.

You are lucky you don't have bad sciatica. I'd consider reducing the weight training and getting in the pool to strengthen all muscles, esp. back. RU seeing a good chiropractor. I have a subluxated L4 and had bad sciatica for 3yrs, but swimming 2x a week really helped a lot. After 8 acupuncture sessions the pain was reduced 80%, chiropracty and swimming for a yr, reduced it further. Back pain gone now, just stiff at times. Check out Robin McKenzie method--cheap book that works.

You need an MRI. How bad is the tear? They grade in percent. If you are an athlete, you are going to have to go way beyond what your dr. tells you as they are going to give you cookie cutter exercises for a typist. Go to a Kung Fu studio and see if they can put you in touch with a good Chinese physical rehab specialist--check out Tui Na and Chinese bone setting. US doctors just want to cut, cut.

Jeff you said this is a test exercise but i use that as one of my Isometric exercises on my -leg day- for long time now, cause as you said the leg extension machine is bad for the knee so i replaced that exercise with this one and i wanna know now if this technique can made my legs stronger and bigger.
Actually is this even an exercise or some sort of test: /?

This video is interesting. I hope it's helps. I have had two knee surgeries and on both legs and it's a pain. tore my acl and minus playing soccer but thus tear was a year apart from the other. If you can make a video to help rehab the knee it would be greatful. considering I had lost my chance to play collegde soccer with these tears. btw I'm on 17

Hey Jeff, I've been doing your AX1 program and properly warm up before exercising. Some guys just go to the steam room to get a warm up. I do a 5 minute speed walk on the treadmill. Any videos on effective warms ups? I sometimes get a calf strain with 1 legged jump ropes. WHy is this happening? My warm up might not be warm enough I guess.
