ve shown, or to the legs of a couch or similar piece of furniture. By anchoring the resistance bands low and behind you, you make your mid back have to contract to pull your body closer to the bar (away from the direction the bands are pulling you. From there, you have to overcome the force of the resistance pulling you down as well. This helps to create more overload for your lats and ultimately help you to build a bigger, more muscular back. There are many other home back exercises that you can do to build a big back at home. That said, there really is no better bodyweight back exercise than the pullup, especially if you know how to load it. Progressive overload on this back exercise is just as important as it is on any other exercise you would perform in any home workout program. If you-re looking for a complete home workout program that doesn-t require you to have any equipment at all, be sure to head to and get the ATHLEAN XERO program. This bodyweight only program allows you to build serious muscle with nothing but your own bodyweight as the resistance. Jeff, you were talking few videos before this one about building muscle and getting in shape by doing something repeatedly for longer time regardless of lower weights, and you have been mentioned various examples (workers, baseball players, etc. Relatively lower weights and resistance for shaping, building muscle etc, is a fact that I know already, nice that you mentioning it in your videos, but there is something else I wanted to ask you.
With some new circumstances in my life, I got into swimming right now, still improving everything that should be improved, and listening how my body reacts to a new -sense- of muscle activation or muscle usage, especially after exercising.
I know that is not your expertise, but with various exercising ways that you've been introducing to us I would like to hear your opinion about muscle building and shaping through swimming.

I use a weight belt and a hooked tie-down strap that I picked up from the hardware store. The tie down is what you'd use to tie down a piece of equipment in a pickup truck or on a trailer to keep it from rolling around in transit. I put one hook on the weight belt and the other one through the center hole of a weight plate. I have the length adjusted so the bottom of the plate just barely touches the floor when I perform a pullup with my knees bent. I do one set of pullups (about 12) with my body weight, and then I add heavier weights and drop the rep count for each successive set. Works for me!

Love the fact that you are real, and that all your exercises are doable at home, cause some guys on the net, are overly pumped, which looks unnatural, and their exercises are, like their bodies, unattainable by normal means. I try to workout at least 5 days a week, sometimes I feel that my body isn't big enough, but when I found you, I saw that you have a huge, yet -normal- body, which was comforting. Also, sorry if this comes out kinda gay, but you are hot as hell.

Is that the best area to do that? What if the section of wood that the top of the pull-up bar rests against breaks? You're going to slingshot back (because of the bands) and through the railing sending you flying off the edge of the second story and onto the floor below lol.

So if a person can only do 2 or 3 regular pull ups, and then they add more resistance making their rep range at 1, THAT is going to build them stronger at doing more reps? .just kind of seems like they will get burnt of only being able to do 3 or 4 sets of 1. ?

Can you do a video on how alcohol affects your diet and overall progress. obviously it doesnt help but as a college student whats a good low calorie drink and a good number of drinks that a college kid could drink and still keep up with good progress in the gym

Not going to lie I was hoping those banister things were going to snap and come flying up lol It'd be hilarious. Thats a great idea though for making a simple home exercise even harder. Idk I guess I could move the couch over and try that.

Hey Jeff, sometimes, I think you are one crazy dude! Who would have thought to add resistance bands to the body to do pull ups like that?
I love it though. can you post a video for impressive calves and traps? Thanks alot -ATHLEAN-X-

WAIT so to gain muscle and strength should I be going to failure on every set? So like if I do 6 sets of flat bench should I do as many reps as I can each set until I cant get the bar up for one more rep and then call it a completed set?
