How to Get Bigger Traps (GUARANTEED)

How to Get Bigger Traps (GUARANTEED)

re not forgetting to train two thirds of the muscle you-re trying to grow. In this video, I-m going to show you a huge trap workout mistake that many people make, and it winds up costing them the overall size and development of their trapezius muscles. The first thing you want to do is make sure you understand what the traps muscle actually encompasses before you start training it. Because the muscle is essentially divided into three zones, due to fiber orientation changes along the belly of the muscle, you realize that a straight up and down shrug is not enough to hit the entire muscle optimally. The traps are comprised of an upper, middle and lower portion. These are aptly named because of the orientation of the muscle fibers of the muscle belly within each of these zones. Since we always say here on this channel how important it is to follow the fibers when you are trying to optimally train a muscle, you want to be sure you have exercises and strategies in place for doing this in your traps training. Since the upper traps are often times targeted with shrugs, most people who lift do not need to get any additional coaching on what exercises to do to hit this area. For those that do however, be sure to watch our traps workout videos here on this channel

Many years ago, when I was much younger, I had a fairly decent body, but I never tried to actually build it.
I do sometimes regret that, however, I was workign in the forestry and then teh logging business and it was sheer physical hard word that built me up.
I had ridiculously huge traps, I had great arm strength too, but my traps, back, shoulders and neck were all mentally strong.
I have had a huge accident and that put me into a wheelchair and now I have got myself out of the chair but I am so, so disabled now, that any working out is excrutiatingly painful and I can be laid up for a week if I do much more than a few minutes excersize and thats destroying me.
I now have a layer of fat that a hippo would be proud of, and I am now 19stone of mostly fat. My weight used to be floating around 16. 7 stone with very little fat, all muscle, but now, the muscle has all but gone. I was in a coma for 5 months and then bed ridden for a further 7 so you try being fed through a tube for over 9 months and then live on nutrient foods while they wean you back onto solids and you will find it hard to get your muscle back. There is muscle memory, thats true and a lot of my strength has come back, but with broken bones all argueing to not do anything, its bloody hard.
But I do wish I had my traps back, or at least some good definition. I liked my body back then. I was proud of it and now, im just a fat prick.

-AthleanX, comment will most likely get lost, but I have had hip replacement very early on both sides, and my femoral joint was quite bad from the get-go. Also, the angle between my leg and torso can't (or shouldn't) get lower than 90 degrees.
That means I shouldn't be holding heavy weights directly on my legs, let alone carry them around, and that deadlifts and squats do not exist for me. What other compound movements (except bench press, triceps dips) exist (since you mentioned that traps are for the most part inherently trained during larger comp moves?
Thank you.

3: 11 but on the other video of yours (on how to build rear delts) u said flexing the elbow will extand the range of motion for the rear delt excersice instead of being limited like doing the reverse flyes.
so by doing that exercise u remove all the rear delts activation? cause they looks almost the same (this exercise in this video and the rear delts exercise)

Thanks for all of the helpful info fam. I have a problem, every time I do shoulder shrugs I get a muscle knot by my right scapula and on the right side of my neck. The neck 1 is more painful and has a sharp sensation if I try to massage it out. They both last from a few days to over a week so I've discontinued shrugs for damn near a year now. Any suggestions?

Jeff, your comment about merely focusing on the upper traps and the muscle imbalance, rounded shoulders and posture problems this creates describes serious issues I've been trying to deal with for a very long time. Many thanks for sharing your knowledge and doing it so articulately. I wish you all the best my friend!

When I was younger I started doing the body for life challenge. My upper traps started getting big really quickly and it kind of freaked me out so I stopped working those muscles. I wasn-t sure I was liking the look LOL. Now I want those muscles to be bigger but for whatever reason haven-t been able to achieve that.

Jeff I like people who change and accept changes people in the gym do a lot of repetitive and redundant excercise day after day years after years.
Change bring fun in workouts and in turn helps us enjoy the
workouts.
Thanks I will try them tomorrow in the gym.

I watched this video exactly for the sake of imbalane in upper traps, to find exercises that can even them out. The left one is huge and right one is tiny. Among other things, the result has been uneven shoulder height and S-curve in the backbone.

I have uneven upper traps. My left trap is significantly more pronounced than the right. This has been the case my entire life. Are there ways to fix this besides not working the bigger trap? A video on this would be great. Thank you!
reply

Will this fix scapula winging, Shoulder instability and impingement? Things of that nature. I have been struggling with it for a while and I-ve been told strengthening the lower trap is really important in fixing this.
