How Much PROTEIN to BUILD MUSCLE How much protein do I need to build muscle

Bodybuilding Bro's have researched the answer to this question since the dawn of the first meat head. For anybody looking to build muscle it seems the number one question on their mind is how much protein do I need? This question would be a lot easier to answer if the supplement industry would stop trying to have protein come out of our ears. Before you fall for the trick that you need tons of protein to build muscle faster, understand that getting anything past 100% the amount of protein that you need will not speed up results at all. So even if you eat twice the amount of protein that your body needs you won't gain more size due to the fact that your muscles had extra protein for repair. The USDA recommends that for the average person you need. 4 grams of protein per pound of body weight. Now keep in mind this is for people that are inactive, and not a recommendation for people that are doing weight training especially at a high level. When you are doing weight training you're purposely attempting to tear and break down muscle tissue. So you need more protein to repair all the damage you cause. This is where my research took me next. After all my research I found that if you are doing resistance training you need to eat anywhere from 75% to 100% of your body weight in grams of protein. So that's. 75-1 gram per pound of body weight. Now that I told you what the research has said I would like to add my opinion on the topic. As long as you're lifting weights for a couple hours a week and you're goal is to gain muscle just eat 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. That has been what has always worked for me. But what about kidney disease. There has been a lot of negative associations with high protein diet due to claims that such diets cause kidney disease. Well I'm here to tell you you've been fed a lot of lies. The truth is that there are no studies showing harmful effects of protein in people who dont have kidney disease. Did you get that guys 0 studies 0. The two main risk factors for kidney failure are high blood pressure and diabetes. A higher protein intake improves both. So even if the increased protein has a harmful effect on the kidneys (which there is no evidence of, it appears to be outweighed by the beneficial effects of lowered blood pressure and blood sugar. That being said There is still almost never a reason to go above 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. Don't forget that protein can still be stored as fat just like any other macro nutrient. So going too far above 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight may result in gaining fat. Try to have a lot of protein in both shakes and meals directly after your workout. Because that is one way you can actually increase protein synthesis. You can have a shake and have a meal 30 minutes after the shake. Don't worry chances are you're body will use all this energy and not store it as fat. Protein is the macronutrient that our body uses to repair broken down muscle tissue, but that does not make it the most important macronutrient for building muscle. For me personally Carbohydrates played the biggest impact on whether I would build muscle or not. If I did not have a ton of carbohydrates every couple hours my body would become catabolic and would not build muscle so effectively. I would have days with more than 400 grams of carbs to put on muscle, and counting protein was something that I never did when I actually learned that building muscle on my body had a lot more to do with carbs. You may not build muscle like I did from carbs, but understand that every macronutrient is extremely important when building muscle, not just protein
