I love this Technique Tuesday series so much. The slow motion footage plus the tight editing lines really help to walk you through all of the smaller points of these compound movements. If I could add ONE THING to my wish list from this series (or a series like it) to be covered in the same comprehensive way; it would be a 2 or even 3 part safety video. Even though you cover mistakes/risks of injuries in every video, I think the TT videos are WONDERFUL for new people scared of these bigger movements- and covering a thorough list of common injuries and how to avoid them would be a helpful way to ease those fears for lifting newbies. I ALWAYS click the videos with thumbnails along the lines of 'things I wish I knew when I started', and I think all of us can think of a painful initial mistake we've made we didn't realize was dangerous.

Why would you do do Good mornings over Romanian deadlifts? I understand that in GMs the bar is resting on the back, so you could assume it has better carryover to the squat, but it doesn't really change the muscles being activated. Sure in the GM you need to have a tighter back than in the RDL, especially if you go heavy, but back tightness is really never the limiting factor in a squat (at least for me, as it is mainly a leg exercise. Plus, RDL is good for your grip strength (if done without straps/hook grip, which can be, and for many people is, the limiting factor in regular deadlifts (again, if not using straps/hook grip. So I don't really see a reason to do GMs if you want to maximize your DL and Squat gains. If you disagree with me, feel free to let me know.

Good morning Jeff: ) training seriously since April. Getting tips from your videos. I'd say thx mate. I'll try the good morning but because old injuries on shoulder I can't held the bar on my back. I'm doing squat on the Smith rack holding the bar by one hand. What about doing good morning on a Smith rack? Than maybe placing st start the body, the foot more remote cause the bar will goes down straight.

This is not relevant to the goodmorning but I've noticed when you compare the squat and the goodmorning that you're knees are going past your toes. I've been told by some trainers that this puts alot of straining on the meniscus and can even cause it to wear away over time. I'm just wondering how much truth there is to this or if it just normal based on individuals skeletal frame

For perfect good morning technique just do the far superior Romanian deadlift instead: 31: 30 this justification more carryover for the squat is complete bull. As if anybody doing this even aims for squat carryover. If you train squats for strength you are probably doing low bar. And if you have a weak back for low bar squats just do some extra high bar squats.

This is more maybe a tip than pure criticism. Every fitness youtuber explaining exercises show technique with light weight and unrealistic form. Training with those weights would give you zero stimulus. Showing the exercise with proper intensity for you in the video would be so much more helpful, and separate you from other youtubers. just a thought

These type of exercises are good to build gains, but horrible for your lower back. I got a disk herniated doing stiff leg deadlift. And let me tell you, it is one of the most frustrated and debilitating things to ever happen to me. I would stay away from these exercised, trust me you do not want a disk problem.

Considering that the GM and RDL are such similar exercies, how come most people are able to lift significantly more weigth with an RDL? Atleast that's my personal observation, altough I still prefer the GM and use it as my primary hip hinge movement. Great video as allways Jeff

This is fantastic I rarely see people employing good mornings, but the hamstring stretch and glute activation here are excellent. Might you have any tips on form utilizing dumbells for good mornings? As racks are not always available at the gym. Thanks for the great material, Jeff
