In this video we're looking at proper technique on rows to maximize muscular development of the back while avoiding injury. We'll also consider why using cheating and momentum on certain rows makes biomechanical sense. Hinn Frækni: Hey Jeff First of all, huge respect for your evidence-based approach to weight lifting, it is by no means common, as of yet (as all things evidence-based, unfortunately. Now, I have a particular question, not sure if you read the comments to your videos, but here it goes in case you might answer it. What can you say about doing barbell curls with starting and ending position being parallel to the ground as a way to focus on the brachialis rather than on the biceps? Does it make sense biomechanically? Do you know if there is any evidence regarding this? Cheers and keep up the great job

I don't know if its ever been proven in the literature or if its just my biology but I completely avoid dumbbell rows because they feel like a terrible exercise for me. I did the same thing with upright rows a long time ago. I am 6ft (not sure if it's relevant but think it may be) and whenever I do dumbbell rows my core/hips feels unstable and compromised. My lower core/ hips etc. never feel this way at any other time and serves me perfectly well. There is something about how the legs are positioned in reference to the torso and then where the weight is coming from that just puts all this weird feeling strain through my hips and groin. I have heard other people reporting getting hernias and such when doing this exercise and to be honest it doesn't surprise me. I know everyone's biology is different so maybe I am one of a few, or just one of one (unlikely) but I will just stick to barbell rows and one arm seated cable/machine rows if I really want to do individual sides. Fundamentally it just seems like an unnecessary risk to me.

Man. You are the best youtuber for information and motivation too. I can see your body change exactly how you say you are trying to change it, which motivates me to watch every video you post and see if there is something new for me to learn, and I was scrolling and noticed I missed this video. It was very helpful for me, I guess I see progressive overload everywhere but my dumbbells and I was doing more than one thing wrong lol I have learned so much and base all my work outs on what I learn from you, and now my entire back, chest, shoulders, legs and glutes are always sore and being felt the next day. It's a mix of the way you explain things and using science to back it up. God bless you Jeff. You are a really kind to offer this much help to everyone

Jeff Nippard, please start a new video series that I thought of: Supplement Saturday. Every Saturday you post a video on the effects of a certain supplement. You can talk about the studies of whether the supplement works or not, the best way to use it, cautions while taking it, etc. You can start simple with the different types of protein: Whey, Caseine, etc. Then move onto creatine: Kre-alkalyn, HCL, etc. Then amino acids. And then you can get into vitamins like Zn, Coq10, Green Tea Extract, Tribulus Terestus, etc etc. Like if you guys agree so he can see this.

Hey Jeff I have a challenging subject video for you When people are trying to decrease their body fat percentage, if their calorie deficit is too big, not only will they lose fat but they will also lose muscle. So, my question is: in this case, when, during the day, are the muscles being catabolized the most based on the individual's nutrition (number of meals, meal timing and macros) and training (volume, frequency and intensity (intensity based on 1 rep max having an intensity of 100%)? Cheers and good luck

Try to have a fixed wrist when pulling, Just make hooks with your habds this will take the pressure off your joints and put it on the back muscle, Also try and fix your body in a locked position when doing upright rows this will stop outher muscles from getting the weight up, Try and drop the weight down this really helps and you can eventually build up again once the enercher has been eliminated, good luck

Dude you are absolutely amazing. I haven't lifted heavily in 2-3 years and have been getting back into it recently. I've been 8-9 times in the past two weeks and have been making massive gains and getting my old muscles still there used to lifting again. And I gotta say it's all thanks to you, your videos have made getting back into so much easier and I've learned so much from you. You rock man.

fitness is so damn frustrating. stop doing them the wrong way, do them this way, its the right way. Now stop doing them the right way, do them the wrong way. Meanwhile its takes so long to actually achieve results so none of us really know the difference and tomorrow you could tell us the opposite or tell us to do them upside down, and most of us would do it and believe it is the better way.

Why do we listen to Greg nuckols? Hes got all these answers to build more muscle yet he looks like he hasnt lifted a day in his life & while some of his lifts are impressive hes made it clear he was gifted genetically with strength since the beginning and benched 275 and deadlifted close to 500 his first time working out. So why go off of his research?
