In this video I'm going to first discuss the differences between a clean vs dirty bulk, then cover the research out there that explains why clean or lean bulking is more favourable than a dirty bulk. One study actually directly compared clean bulking vs dirty bulking in strength-training athletes, and I will share the results in the video. And finally, I will discuss my personal experience with a dirty bulk vs clean bulk and share which method provided better results

Jeremy I normally love your videos but I can't help but worry about the clean vs dirty bulking dynamic. I struggled with body image issues for years as a fat person and was around the idea of eat less and being thin being ideal due to my mom being into weightwatchers and sometimes bringing me and my siblings to meetups for them when were little. From what I've seen of health, psychology, and how they interact, setting up a dynamics of good eating and bad eating itself makes eating an unenjoyable experience and drastically impacts self esteem. This may not sound like much, but honestly low self esteem can keep people from doing even light physical activity, let alone bodybuilder level lifting. Also body fat is more essential to bodily function than most people realize, in fact if you lose enough of it, your body's reproductive function cuts off. In relation to that, for most people, said cut off happens a few percentages before abs become visible. Like if you have visible and and still were able to havve, idk, a hundred kids, great, but for most people, that isn't how it happens. Besides, fat provides cushioning and support for your body, even if it isn't aesthetically pleasing. As a powerlifter that's only recent become comfortable looking at my body in any way, I worry the focus on aesthetics in men's fitness circles is just women's body image issues repackaged for men and I'd hate to see you encourage that sort of thing. Anyways, not mad just disappointed.

This answered all my questions bc I have been eating more in order to put on weight both muscle and fat bc I have a high metabolism and cant keep any of those things from burning off. And Im trying to navigate this new regiment with my work schedule so maybe I should keep on tracking my nutrition and pushing myself to workout and sleep hard.
So if anyone should know, would a 80/20 diet sort of work for this type of bulk. Id consider myself skinny fat. Most of muscle definition resides in my legs and if I gain more fat I tend to carry it on my sides. Im really really wanting to reverse this process in my body and Im willing to do whatevers necessary to be healthy but put on weight to get muscles everywhere. Idk if that made any sense but your video definitely helped a ton

I dont know what the bulk Im doing is called but I just eat the regular food my parents cook and substitute my snacks for protein cookies/bars and the water I would usually drink with my meals with protein shakes and I also eat fast food 3-4 times a week. Its really hard for me to gain weight because my metabolism is really fast and I play basketball almost daily so I eat about 3, 500 calories. Im 17 510 150 lbs. I guess lmk if this good or not lmao (edit: i consume around 180-200 grams of protein in this diet)

I know a guy at the gym who went on an entire year of dirty bulking. After a year, he never stopped. Now hes just fat and chubby. He keeps saying hes going to cut, but he failed to cut every single time. Lean bulking is the way to go. You can only build so much muscle per week and per week, so why store the excess body fat that you dont need it

This guys full of shit
His genetics are great so of course a lean bulk will be more beneficial
Its not fair to tell people who are genetically skinny to try a lean bulk. its near impossible to achieve that on avocado and clean chicken

My issue is that I want to look big and fill up my shirt Im only 56 so its not that hard but on a lean bulk do u think I still will look big in my shirt and fill it up compared to a dirty bulk

Lmao when I joined high school football, I seen a lot of my teammates on the freshman team attempt to bulk up but looked fat instead. Stick with the lean bulk plz

I dirty bulked last year. never doing that again. I gained so much fat it took me almost 5 months to see my abs again 2 of those months I was at a very low caloric deficit.
