THE COMPETITION 2017 British Classic MattDoesFitness OnlyMe: Matt, no pity from this end, just a that knowing of when one thing in competition becomes a game changer. It's a great video. So many things I've gotten out of this. The realness of this video is compelling and authentic. And I truly felt that bitter disappointment. Probably one of the most compelling videos you've done. Emotion real, your disappointment so palpable, the other side of what can happen in competition. We know you can smash it, you know you can smash it. I reckon the deadlift just wasn't going to happen because subconsciously you'd pulled out of the competition after the chest press, which would only become apparent with the last discipline. You are legend x

So sorry you're disappointed by your performance, but by concentrating on the minutiae I feel that you are missing the main points. Allow me to summarise: 1. You lifted really heavy things 2. You followed this by lifting more even heavier things in a manner which is designed to make this task more difficult 3. At no point during these tasks did you ever shit yourself. Take heart, it was a successful outing where your sphincter muscles were tested to the max and were not found wanting.

keefikus nailed the video/edit Chin up though Matt, things like this happen in life. It makes us learn and improve for the futureAlso, you have definitely not let any of us fans down. The fact you shared the experience with us even though the meet didn't go to plan shows the respect you have for us. It may even help people giving them the extra things to think about as you said regarding training/form as if you are competing each time.

Our worst meets are the ones that make us better in the long run. Learning lessons BTW I don't mean this negatively at all, but are you changing your opinion on the aggressiveness of attempt selection? I mean I know the bench press thing through you off, but it's hard to recover from tough really tough squats too (hit or miss) Head up brother
reply

You need to come up north, mostly because I scared the actual shit out of my dogs shouting UP At my iPad and I think you should sort this mess out. Tough luck though man, that bench was depressing to watch because if the first hadnt played out like that youd have smashed that comp. always next time, come back and show em whos boss

Don't feel bad at all, yeah it sks but you did and awesome job That's why you are on youtube, being honest and open about things. Would be dope if we all won all the time but that's just not the case, we are humans We have seen the whole process / series and we know you can do much better Chin up, grab luca and have an awesome weekend; )

I loved this video. No disrespect to Matt's current videos as they are for entertainment and are entertaining at that, but these are the videos I watch youtube for. I felt gutted when he failed the third bench attempt after failing the first for an avoidable mistake. Heartbreaking but also hugely motivating.

Matt mate u haven't let anyone down just shows ur Human like the rest of us even though ur a total animal when it comes to lifting. I'm sure you'll smash it next time, still the most genuine, humble and honest YouTuber in what you do. Keep up the fantastic work, your an absolute inspiration and a total legend.

No matter the result, whether first or last, the journey has been brilliant Matt. I've been slacking getting back into working out for over a year after a few naggling injuries and this video has inspired me to get back into the gym and start lifting again, cheers for that mate, first session in an hour.

Matt, I know what it's like to train your hardest and bring your best and not win. Eat some good food, only take a day or maybe two, to beat yourself up, then eat some more good food, spend time with the fame, RESET YOURSELF and use that disappointment to fuel your next meet. Congrats Bro. Love the content.
