Ill never understand why certain rides like this one that only need to really keep the storyline that everyone loves and just need to tweak things and update with new paint, animatronics, ect. - decide to do things like this and butcher a beloved ride. How amazing would it be if they kept the same storyline of - at first Atlantis seeming peaceful magical and enchanting - then it turning and getting scarier/darker as the ride continues on? Think they should keep things like the sparkles leading the way (love that) - but update things like how you first arrive into Atlantis - maybe stick with the theme and have the first scene have the nice mermaid singing to you as she sweetly beckons you to follow her singing down into Atlantis then once youre in Atlantis have the beginning seem more enchanting with more sweet sea creature animatronics and bright colors ect. really laying that false sense of security on thick - then as she lures you further into Atlantis still singing (to keep with the theme shes a siren and not Medusa) have it become darker have more scary sea life like sharks, octopus, eels, ect. Have them all as moving animatronics. Update the siren at the end lunging at you. Have it redone scarier, larger, and have it lunge closer to you. This ride could be golden if they updated it with sticking with the core things people loved about the ride and just modifying certain things that it needs.

Are they ever going to put a new story in this ride after ripping out the old one? It just feels so half-assed now. There are long segments that are clearly meant to be dark ride scenes, and right now nothing happens in them. I heard there was originally a plan to update the story to tie in with Kraken Unleashed (RIP to that too, but then they just gave up after they had already taken away the old story. SeaWorld, if you're reading this, PLEASE put a new story in

Reading through the comments, it's sad to hear what happened to this ride. I went on it back in 2002. It was really cool with the mermaid/medusa story, and don't forget the Beetlejuice music that played after coming off the first lift hill. I wouldn't be too excited to ride this in the state it's in now.

Seaworld Keops animals that they shouldn't and they know better but love the money they bring in and don't care. I don't support then and this lost you a sub. Don't support places that provide interactions with wild animals.

It's disappointing how they removed many of the effects. It's always great to see a decent dark ride outside of Disney or Universal. It's still just kind of fine, but definitely neutered from what it used to be.

I went yesterday and yeah I knew this was gonna be a boring let down. They shouldve just gave this a new and less scary storyline instead of just leaving it blank

I still hate how they fixed the story elements by just turning them off. Isn't it true that you can still see the monster in the dark before the indoor lift hill?
