The Jungfrau is one of the commanding summits in the Bernese Alps and towers over the Lauterbrunnen Valley at 13, 642 feet. It sits close to the Eiger and access to it's imposing glacier can be had by taking a train that tunnels through the belly of the Eiger to the Jungfraujoch. The whole experience, from the train ride to the summit climb is mind blowing

Wow, you made that look easy! The glaciers that flow down the valley below the Jungfrau are indeed enormous. 2 years ago I joined the groups that hike down the glacier, staying 1 night at the Konkordia hutte on the way. We hiked quickly for maybe 8 hours on the glacier and still managed to only cross maybe 2/3 of it. When you are out on it, it just seems to go on and on. Below the Konkordia hut it is supposed to be 900 metres thick (about 3, 000 feet) as I recall.

I always feel so much better knowing that The Big C is with you all to make you three handsome adventurers stop and eat well along the way. And that Dan the Man, of course, will continue to provide caution and wit in the midst of any danger and Matt to provide his brilliant intellect and vast knowledge on the terrain. And I was not paid nor compensated for making this comment.

Thanks for putting in perspective how incredible this place is. I grew up here as a kid, now taking its beauty for granted. Watching this through your eyes was kind of humbling putting things back into perspective. Great edit, keep aan butchering the words! Only after you mentioned no cars did I figure out you said Wengen hahaha!

wait the matterhorn? You guys finally doing real mountaineer expeditions? also by the way Switzerland is one of my favorite places in the entire world. I am Belgian American so I have been several times. the Matterhorn is known as the Servin in French. I most likely butchered the spelling.

Awesome, so glad the weather held up till you summited, fantastic scenery and views! Now let's hope next videos will show you made it to the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc or at least one of them, but even if you didn't I think Jungfrau made it worth it coming to the Alps this time: )

Video would have been better with some sausage or raclette or rosti! Best part of Guggibutte was making last call at the hut on the way back down. That sausage looked INSANE! Christophe and Matt need to be doing the route planning -- at least they make time for the food!

Maybe I'm already an oldtimer, but with just three guys on a rope, would it make sense to make knots in the rope between you, just for extra friction in case someone would fall into a crevasse? Or has this been abandoned already?

Another fantastic video, and such great timing! Im heading to Lauterbrunnen and Chamonix in a few weeks and the Jungfrau is on my list of climbs while I am there. Congratulations on your climb and thanks for the great beta.

Had the same experience with the rain when I was in the Swiss Alps. Every single night I'd look at the forecast and see 100% chance of rain, make plans accordingly, wake up and. 0% chance of rain, completely sunny.

How do you find the white mountain hardware bag? Been looking at that for ski mountaineering and general winter based activities, ice climbing etc. To replace a far to large 40litre bag.
reply

Hi Christophe, what layers did you take with you/wear? Curious to know if it is similar to my own system or not.
Also: braking knots are recommended with 3 man rope parties: p

I think you need to dispense with the words 'mediocre' and 'amateur' - that looked pretty hardcore. Keen to see if you do the Matterhorn - that's another level of hardcore. Good luck.

I noticed that you have been privatizing old old vedijoes. I like the early early ones. I just want you sound font for my phone ring. The old old one.
Mediocre Amateurs for life!

I think the voiceover at the beginning was a good choice. Allowed the video to get going earlier.
I also enjoyed the updated version of one of the old go-to soundtracks.

I like the climbing parts of these videos, but I also like to see the travel segments where you guys experience and react to local places, customs, food and culture.

She-it! Now I am compelled to drop everything for the next 11: 04 minutes. Guess I can call and tell them I will be late for that appointment.
reply

Danny depending on the weather systems, you could go back to stay in Dix Hut over in Arolla and climb Mt. Blanc de Cheilan and La Luette; -)
reply

Ohhh man this video was amazing, Cant wait for the next one, ( Im positive I heard Danny say Mount Blanc and Matterhorn are on their list!

How do you go down that? I usually have no issue up, but going down in always a scary and painful (knees) experience. How do you go down?
