Lakeland - Winter Haven A Central Florida Getaway Hey, watching more of your videos although I can swear I probably watch one of these twice sometime in the last couple of years but with that being said, never hurts to watch it again anyway you were in Lakeland and you stopped at the Silver moon drive-in you know it’s kind of funny I briefly live there in the early 70s as a child. I actually went to that drive-in theater fact I think it’s right down the street from where we used to live although I don’t believe the trailer park is he was still there if it is, I’d be surprised. All I know is a railway track ran behind the trailer that we lived in at the time, but it was good to see that that drive-in was still there and still operating like it last time I was there was probably 1972 or 1973 so we’re that timeframe I’ve been probably three years old. Happy new year my friend.

Quite unbelievable, more than 50 lakes in one county - they must be man-made or at least some of them,
the terrain is very flat, and low altitude, as is most of Florida, the overall lakeland design could be replicated
elsewhere in the livable Florida. The canal system that connects most of the lakes, is perfect for releasing
fish, into the lakes, one excellent species from Australia, that would be ideal for Florida is the Barramundi,
that is native to Northern Australia, and has a sub-tropical climate, just like Florida, it is one of Australia's
favorite eating fish, and can grow to over a meter in length, they are a favorite deep-fried Fish n Chips, the
potato's grown in other areas, in colder and higher altitudes. Floridian barramundi & Appalachian potato's.

That was great! I grew up in Lakeland, and you showed me new things I never knew about! Plus a few new things I need to go visit. To add: Lakeland night life does exist, with a handful of places to dance, and cosmic bowling is popular. It’s an old time town. That burger place used to be a nightclub called Hurricane Alley. It was super popular back in the 90s, and even had a teen night. The Lakeland civic center, now called the RP Funding Center, hosts the Lakeland Magic, a semi pro basketball team for the Orlando Magic. It also has lots of concerts and events. And I didn’t see anything about the rodeo. Just adding to all the already awesome content. When you go back to Lake Wales, be sure to visit Spook Hill.

Some more fun information about Lake Morton, it is also where the public library is located and also the Polk Museum of Art. This is the lake to go if you want to see swans. The swans were actually gifted to Lakeland from the queen herself many years ago. The yearly Mayfaire by the lake is also held on Lake Morton in May. It features many artists.

I was surprised to see that you featured the incredible architecture of Florida Polytechnic but not the world's largest collection of Frank Lloyd Wright buildings at the beautiful Florida Southern College campus only a few miles away. If you haven't, you should visit. The campus makes a very fun, informative stroll.

What a perfect time for this vid! There's a 90% chance I'll be moving there this year. Thx so much fellas!
Edit: funny you mention Milwaukee as I'm actually from there! Just make sure not to come film during our brutal winters!

We bought our second home in Lakeland! After scouting and scouting all the coastal areas, LAL felt more like home and our pace. In 60-90 minutes we can day trip anywhere from Tampa, DT St. Pete, Orlando, Sarasota and more.

Grew up in Polk county my whole life and didn't realize how convenient our location was until I got older. We have so much rural land yet a skip and a hop away from anything you could ever want to do. Besides snow ski lol.

I think the population of Polk County was around 225, 000 when I graduated from high school in '91. It is now over 700, 000, but fortunately the county is so big that it has still kept it's small town feel in most areas.
