Old Loggers Path is a 27 mile loop located in the Loyalsock State Forest area of north-central PA. I'd rate this trail a 10 for Pennsylvania and encourage everyone to take a visit at what this place has to offer. Go off trail at the sound of waterfalls for some great swimming holes. Plenty of water and campsites this is really a hidden gem of Pennsylvania. Parking: 41. 507209, -76. 820814 Trail starts close to the parking lot; I went clockwise but I suggest going counter-clockwise because I think the elevation would work out better though there isn't much. Day 1: 11. 2 miles - Camp near only major stream crossing Day 2: 15. 9 miles

Nettle (urtica dioica) is probably one of the most nutritious greens you can get your hands on. Very high in vitamins and minerals. Best to harvest in early spring and not recommended to harvest mature plants. Can be sauteed, cooked in soups, and taken as a tea. The stings can also be beneficial too as an anti inflammatory. I typically use nettle medicinally in a formula for allergies. I also drink the tea by the liters if I'm feeling run down, have a cold or flu. It's also great for the skin. I'm a practicing herbalist of 6+ yrs and I have my own herbal skincare company (also in Bucks County, PA. Yes. It looks like nettle to me. Also as a rule of thumb, we (herbalists) practice sustainable harvesting in the wild so it's good to keep such locations on the DL for conservation purposes.

My son and I did this trail in the same direction from the same starting spot in Masten three weeks ago. HOT! 90/70 for temps. Yes, that is Stinging Nettle below Sprout Point Vista. Lots of it. Didn't bother my son at all and only gave me a slight itch. It crushes my wife. I like the Sawyer bags; completely opaque that cuts down on algae growth that clear bags allow. Just need some TLC and bring an extra, just in case. We saw no rattlesnakes; many others did. Rock Run is an awesome and cold swimming hole!

Hoping to be ready for my at thru hike the summer after I get my associates degree( roughly 2022.
Anyone know any good overnight or 2-3 day trails around ga besides the at? I want to get as much experience as possible to sort my gear out but so far it's just been going to wildlife management areas and exploring, which obviously has unmanaged trails most of the time.

Stinging nettles are extremely edible and nutritious, and the sting is neutralized by cooking. Some people even gather them bare-handed and don't mind the tingling. I don't go that far but I'd probably call them tingling nettles rather than stinging. I didn't even recognize the feeling for years. I once had a nettle-ka-pita that was amazing - better than spinach!

Thanks for the tip on the Sawyer micro. I've been using the regular one without issue for over two years. Oddly enough, I have never had issues with the provided bags that come with it. Everyone else I know has had issues, not sure what I am doing different. Hey, nothing Gorrilla tape can't fix! Good to see you back out!

I had the same issue with that pad and it got returned to REI right away (REI only because I knew I could return it. I need a wide pad. I got the Uberlite in large and its been good so far. Just not for below freezing weather. Although I haven't tested that yet. I'm a warm sleeper.
