GRAB A WOLTERS WORLD SHIRT Wandering the Alps, Canyoning in Interlaken, Eating Fondue & Chocolate, there is so much to love about visiting Switzerland as a tourist, but with sky high prices, offhand service & did I mention the prices, there are a few things to hate as well. This video is for travelers heading to Switzerland and wanting to know what they will love & hate about visiting Switzerland. I love Switzerland. I hate Switzerland. Which one are you? America as a culture represents friendliness, courtesy and care. When I travel to Europe I never expect the above descriptions above that I expressed. I know when I am n America and I know when I am n Europe. America as a nation shows love. Not near perfect, but still there's love. Except for Canada, I don't see n other nations come close to what America represents. You perhaps do not understand how pleasant Americans are because you all are not as pleasant (no offense. There will never be anything wrong with our and restaurant and customer service complimentaries. We just have polite & positive ways that you do not have (certainly not the Swiss) but the people from the other countries who commented.

I totally disagree about Swiss not liking kids. True, there are people and establishments that do not cater to children, but by and large, if children can be relatively well behaved, there will be no problem in Switzerland. As an American who lived in Switzerland for several years, the rules can seem a bit oppressive at first. After a while, though, it is precisely those rules that make Switzerland orderly, clean, and functional. Swiss people, as you alluded to, value their peace and quiet. Switzerland is one of the more densely populated European countries, and it is important to folks to respect others' space and the quiet hours. Follow the rules, and you will have a wonderful time.

As a Swiss, I think the service here is perhaps a little different. When I was in South Africa once, the staff introduced themselves by name and made a bit of small talk. I was surprised about that. But if you are used to that kind of service, the Swiss way might be strange. Swiss people are often not very talkative with strangers (with other Swiss people or tourists, but this is not meant in an unfriendly way (just not very outgoing. In a restaurant, the staff will just say, Hello, what would you like to drink? and that is the friendly, normal standard.

NOT kids friendly? In a country that pays so much attention to the kids and their parents wellbeing? Either you went to a very bad restaurant or your kids didn't beheaved properly. and the rules. well. this is not the USA. maybe we just like a quiet place to live. Listen to music in a quiet volume. Not hearing the music the neigborgh is playing two blocks away. thank you.

In 2016 we spent a month in Switzerland during the summer holidays and i must say that Switzerland is very beautiful but the people are very stuck up and not very friendly at all. Mr friends stays in Zurich and he agrees with me. We plan visit again next year and hope the our experience will be different next time around. The service very average.

I really like wolters world. Lots of useful travel information. But it is from an american point of view. so have that in mind. He says service in restaurant is bad in Switzerland. He told the same about Denmark (where I live. But is it more a cultural difference. And perhaps that we pay people for working so they don't need to beg for tipping. :-)

Going there for 15 days in May 2020, from south Orange County California. Using Zurich and Geneva as my bases, with tours and independent train travel. Looking forward to it as my family name is Swiss and one area I will be visiting should have quite a few people with my last name.

I guess the best thing about Swiss things are the knives. Oh God! you just buy one and it is there for your entire life. No need of sharpening it after a few years, etc. It is as good as new (all the time.
