I generally take my truck on big road trips so I can take everything I need, extra gas, lighter fluid, engine oil, stop leak, fix a flat, tire pump, a Tarp, snake tongs I know overboard, eating utensils & plates/cups, duct tape, chainsaw and axe 'you never know, matches, bug spary, sun screen & I carry a pack with other medical supplies for all types of inflictions that humans can get that ruins trips. Your video is making me want gas up the truck and head out. Cheers Mark!

Just my two bits on the emergency kit: Sometimes its handy to put together your own. I got a nice looking one at work from a saftey seminar, but when I opened it up, there was a flashlight that didnt work and a pair of jumper cables with questionably thin insulation. I just went ahead to the store and spent a few extra dollars on some quality stuff that I could trust in. The odd bungee chord and ratchet strap has come in handy a few times too. Good ideas outside of that!

Good list man! I'm traveling the roads often and when stuck in hairy situations, having a physical map and plenty of water have been helpful. During summer trips I'd add keeping a cooler in the trunk and at least a small blanket during the winter. The blanket also helps when making stops at the rest areas to catch a power nap when needed. Thanks!

This is a great video. I love traveling in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and Latin America but at some point I really want to do a good olde 'Murican road trip to get a sense of how big the country is on the ground, not just flying over it on a plane. I plan to stop at different national parks at mt bike trails along the way.

Pro Road Tripper Tip: . Don't wanna spend money on a Garmin or TomTom and you have a old smart phone laying around. Get the CoPilot Live app and it turns old smart phones into Navigation Devices. I read about it 2 years ago in a magazine and used it during a road trip across the country last year and it worked pretty good.

Coca Cola is liquid candy. Also a repair kit for your tires is helpfull. I have a kit with carbonic pellets to quickly fill upp the tires.
