The Texas Hill Country is one of the most beautiful areas of Central Texas with rolling hills, rivers and abundant wildlife. The region features hundreds of wineries, distilleries and breweries as well as many historic towns like Fredericksburg and New Braunfels. We spent 48 hours in the Texas Hill Country and had a relaxing weekend exploring this beautiful part of the state. Let us know what you think in the comments

When the Hill Country gets rain, aint nuttin purtier. Flowers Galore. Last spring our Ranch
looked like a Desert, this spring it looks like a Rain Forest, and i'm Happy. Did you know Gillespie County was named after Robert Gillespie, one of the Bravest, most badass Texas Ranger to ever Live? Captain Jack Hays, Captain Ben McCulloch, Captain Samuel Walker, Captain Big Foot Wallace. Mexican Army sent 1, 500 soldiers into San Antonio, Texas Rangers sent out the word. 245 Texas Rangers and Texas Militia Responded, they got 1, 500 soldiers and we got 245, SO, lets get em. The Brave Rangers sent them 1, 500 running back across the border, Back When MEN WERE MEN, Remember the Alamo? thats what Rangers ask the Banditos and Mexican Soldiers right before they shot em in the Head, Remember the Alamo? Ka-Pow

Enjoyed your video of the Texas Hill Country. Not to be critical, but you missed the most rugged and beautiful part of the area. Just a few miles north from the Fredericksburg is the Willow City loop, a stunningly beautiful area especially in the spring when the wild flowers are in full bloom. The ruggedness of the hills and the wild flowers make it a must see. Also the Leakey, Vanderpool and Campwood area with the drive through the most rugged part of the hill country is gorgeous. In that area, you also have two of the most beautiful state parks, Lost Maples (my personal favorite) and Garner State Park, again a must see. Hope you can come back and complete your journey through the beautiful Texas Hill country.

I never saw the Pedernales Falls so low. We used to go there and walk out to the falls where the water would flow at about six inches deep all the time. At the bottom the rock turned up and it would launch you up and out into the pool. That was one of the main reasons to go there. Apparently, some people would do that who weren't good enough swimmers and there were drownings. There are whirlpools. There is also a split in the rocks downstream about 10 feet wide where tubing or rafting was fun. A little rough on a tube because the water was moving fast through there. Now they don't allow swimming there. The water looks very low!

Wow, the Texas Hill Country looks absolutely breathtaking! I've never been to Central Texas before, but this post definitely makes me want to visit. The rolling hills, rivers, and historic towns seem like the perfect place for a relaxing weekend getaway. And with so many wineries, distilleries, and breweries to explore, there's something for everyone. Thank you for sharing your experience, I can't wait to plan my own trip to the Texas Hill Country!

Love the hill country. Live in DFW area. Another place you might enjoy is the Wimberley, Texas area. Beautiful tall hills, forests and the Blanco River are things you'll see there. Great places to dine around the square and neat little shops. Swimming holes around, like the blue hole, hiking trails. Didn't see and do everything we wanted to. Want to visit the places I haven't seen in this video. Thanks for sharing.

The Salt Lick it totally overrated, and Im not just saying that because I have been going there almost monthly since the late 90 and and getting tired of the long wait times on the weekends. Just saying.
JK. The Salt Lick is one of the best Bar-Be-cue joints in the hill country. And The National Museum of the Pacific War and The Nimitz Gallery are 100% must do.

I've lived in Austin 65 of my 66 yrs and still haven't made it to Enchanted Rock, so it was nice to see your posted views. I do believe it will make a great, and very crowded, spot to view the Total Lunar Eclipse next Spring. It's also nice to see your wife have a chance to travel with you. Great video. Glad you got to enjoy our state. Safe travels.

Again another nice video, before visiting California, and using your tips, my wife and I used to go a lot of times to Austin Texas and The Hill Country always kept a place in my heart.
We had no kids back then so we always went around spring and see the bluebonnet's all over the place. Thanks for showing these wonderful places.

Just wanted to take a minute to say what I love about your videos/style: They are always presented in a light-hearted, easy-going tone that exploration and adventure are all about. You don't overexplain or intellectualize travel, you simply enjoy the journey and present your experience, and I really like that

It's actually not the childhood home of Nimitz (common misconception. He was born there but spent the majority of his childhood in Kerrville before graduating from Tivy high school. His mom and step dad/uncle ran the St. Charles hotel which stood where the Sid Peterson hospital used to be located in town.

Beautiful video. So fun and relaxing to watch. If I had to pick a favorite, I'd have to say it's the place you stayed, because it set the tone for the whole wonderful adventure. I also loved the flower seed farm. (Wow has Fredericksburg changed, but it's been a few decades since I've been, so, of course)

As a lifelong Texan from San Antonio, it is great seeing the Hill Country get some love. Such an awesome collection of towns and things to do. Some local intel about the park. It is pronounced Purrr-den-ales in spite of that pronunciation making no sense! Enjoyed the video!

The Hill Country is a dump! Full of meth, crack heads and drunks that think they can come and puke and piss on Main street of my home town. AKA, the BURG. Glad ya'll had a good time! Nice video. Next time try Leroy, s BBQ just down the road from Wild Seed Farm.

From an Orange County resident, I too love Salt Like. When I visited Austin, I went out to Driftwood as well. Bought extra BBQ to bring home. I've asked people visiting the area to stop at the airport to bring me their bbq sauce and rub as well. Great choice!

The hike up Enchanted Rock reminds me of the hike to Delicate Arch in Arches. Beautiful sights. I didnt realize this was in Texas. I always enjoy the info you give because you cover it all. I can plan trips straight off your videos!

Great job yall. Even though we have property near Llano, about 16 miles from Fredericksburg I did not know many of the restaurants. Plan to take my wife to see Blake the Rhino and sip some great Texas wines. Thanks!

I've had this area on my list of places I have never been but want to visit and I think your video just put me over the edge on planning a trip. Probably wait for the fall or next spring at this point though. Great video!

The Pacific War Museum also has an outdoor section where they do a short battle reenactment. It is only on certain days and hours though. Worth the watch. (At least they had this on my last trip there)

I went to that part of Texas the last month, and after watching your video I discover the name of the flowers along the I-35.
Also I find out new places to see my next time there.

We are from New Zealand and visited the Texas hill country a few years ago which we loved. We also enjoyed Luckenbach - I was disappointed you didnt visit there - its a fun place

Amazing video, Josh. If I had one choice to stay in entire state of Texas, I would pick Walden's Retreat. Looks so relaxing. I would spend the entire weekend there and not leave.

Very nice video. As a Californian, I thought Texas is one vast flat wasteland. Also as a Californian, I have to ask: where are the hills? We'd call this speed bump country.

This is what I miss when I moved from Houston/Dallas back to Illinois. Such a variety of landscapes to see no matter where I went. Thanks for your trip and video. Love

My wife and I enjoy your videos very much! Your quiet enthusiasm and the information you provide is outstanding. Enjoy your dad's comments. You travel well together.

Thank you for this. I used to go to Wildseed Farms every spring with my grandparents to see all the beautiful flowers. This brought back some fond memories

I'm in Houston so I visit all these areas quite often during the year, enough to get bored lol
Yet your video is making me want to visit it this weekend.

Gorgeous! Even if I visited Texas Hill Country, I would not get to hike like you do, so thanks for doing these videos so we can follow along virtually!
