It does NOT rain every day in England. The average across the country is 133 days per year, in London the average annual rain days is 110. Even on the days it does rain, its often just short showers.
English pubs are certainly a great institution but the beer is NOT warm. What most Americans refer to as beer is in fact lager, and here in the U. K. that is served chilled as it is everywhere else. There are many other varieties of beer served in the U. K. and some are served at a slightly higher temperature. Traditional ales are served at 10 to 14 c, which is not warm, some such as IPA are served at cooler temperatures. On a hot day, yes we have them, a cold lager is a refreshing drink, but dont confuse lager with the many other beers that are served slightly less cold because that retains the flavour better.
And one other thing, if you want fish and chips, go to a fish and chip shop or restaurant. Its what they specialise in of course and they are much better than they ever are in a pub. There are plenty of other good options in pubs, steak and ale pie being my favourite.

Always love your videos. I went to London with a side trip to Oxford. You were right on many things. The exchange rate was 1. 7: 1 when I went so I felt that I should have a wheel barrow of cash and throw it in the air every few minutes. but yes, the Musuems are free and phenomenal. The beer was always cold. The tourist infrastructure was great in the city. Like any big metropolitan area in the US, you still need to be cautious of your surroundings, but the people were great. I would go back in a fortnight if I could.

It does not always rain, it cam vary from year to year, mostly depending on the Gulf Stream, if the Gulf Stream moves away from the UK then we have a terrible summer but if it moves closer then we have a how summer. The last two years it has been really hot. I have actually been down the river, with bottles of beer just below the surface of the water reading and getting a tan. People were swimming in the river. With British weather it is pot-luck, you maybe lucky and get blazing sunshine and no rain on the other-hand

Although I agree for the most part in what he said but it doesn't rain or is cloudy all the time - we do have sunny days and sometimes quite a bit of it too. London and The South is expensive but the Midlands/North are cheaper. Fish and Chips is more authentic from a proper chippy - some seaside towns have some of the best fish and chips that you could ever have. Yes we are definitely not the Downton Abbey types

My wife and I are Americans (33 and 31) that like medium-sized cities that are less crowded, have friendlier locals, but still have big shopping malls (think Pittsburgh, Columbus Ohio, San Diego, etc. We are not so into megalopolis cosmopolitan cities (like New York, San Francisco, Tokyo, etc. What cities in England would you recommend we visit/stay? Thanks for reading!

I am 55 and I have lived in Suffolk, England all my life. I love a drink and frequent the pub every weekend and I have never, NOT ONCE had a warm beer. The thing is in the USA they put ice in their drinks in the UK the ice is there but you have to ask for it. Otherwise it comes out of the pump which means room temperature, so just ask the barman to put ice in the glass.

In term of the beer. Most people drink cold lager or bitter which is dark and tends to be warmish. However foreign beers from Belgium, Germany and the Czech Republic are increasingly available. There are also increasing numbers of craft breweries sprouting up producing great beers of many different varieties. So don't be put off!

those are 4 beers you will find in a lot of pubs on draught. If you find a place that does hobgoblin on draught BUY IT! Seriously We do the BEST beer in the world under the category of REAL ALE (Belgian ale is second mind.

London can be expensive if you insist on eating and drinking in the main tourist areas. I found a little pub down a side street near Oxford street and got a beer that was nearly half the price of the beer being sold in the pubs on Oxford street about five minutes walk away.
