Been living here forever. One thing to note is Toronto is deliberately hard to drive in. This is by design. Cars kill cities. Toronto was saved by Jane Jacobs and the fight to stop the Spadina expressway in the 70's that was a planned freeway from the 401 straight through the city to the lake. This would have killed Toronto. So, park your car outside the city and uber, take transit, walk or rent a bike. The other thing is Toronto is super multicultural. The ethnic food is second to none. Construction is not that big an issue. It's a bit more pronounced because it is mostly done outside winter. Also the lake and beaches are surprisingly nice despite having a freeway running next to it. Kensington market is great as is China town. The U of T downtown campus is very nice to wander around as well.

I love Toronto. The place we stayed was great, like a small apartment building. We learned much later that it was located in the bad part of Toronto. Which, I guess, explains the crack hoe in the McDonald's the next morning. LOL. As an American, the idea of the bad part of Toronto is kind of hilarious. My husband and I walked around on the street after dark and never once felt unsafe. Didn't even know it was considered the bad part of town until I read it on some website years later! A far cry from an American city bad neighborhood, like in Baltimore, Detroit, Chicago, Memphis, LA. you know, the ones where you may actually find yourselves dodging bullets. I'll take a Canadian bad neighborhood any day!

Toronto is the best city in Canada hands down!
We have the tallest buildings in the country. It feels like New York. CN tower is the tallest tower in the world.
Canadas wonderland is super fun and its the countrys biggest amusement park.
Hanging out downtown is supper cool because you are surrounded by tall buildings. It feels literally like New York.
Our subway cars are finished in silver metal like New York.
Toronto is like New York without the crime.
Thanks for coming to my town. Respect!

Had a blast when I went there in 2016 during the Rio Olympic season. Saw the opening ceremony at CBC's downtown headquarters, went to a Blue Jays game at the Skydome, CN Tower, Canada's Wonderland up in Vaughn, Casa Loma, ROM, etc. Great inexpensive public transportation (TTC/GO Transit) and food options too. I would recommend buying a Citypass which saved me a lot. I coming back there in January, but sadly, on a brief layover in Pearson Airport on my way to Tokyo (hope they have poutine and Tim Hortons.

In case anyone is wondering, every single point -- both the goods and bads -- that Mark mentions is absolutely spot-on, 100% correct about Toronto. If you're driving into Toronto and staying at a downtown hotel, I cannot overstate the importance of parking your car in a lot on the edge of the city and taking the subway or train into downtown. Yes, it's going to cost you a bit for parking, but it will save you more headaches and frustration, not to mention even more money, than you can possibly imagine.

Very late but, green space is amazing if you know how to find it.
The ravine paths are amazing, Don river, Rouge park, get out of the core and explore the amazing Edwardian and Victorian communities.
Brick Works, just a short walk and you can see otters on the river.
Pretty much every neighborhood has a creek, ravine or river to explore.
Toronto means the meeting of the waters.
