Thanks for sharing. You got it right about Krakow, my hometown. Its a great city, vibrant, with great history and a mix of cultures. It's very busy in summer with pubs open even till 4a. m. and it is great for everyone to find something interesting to do. You can go to the parks, nature reserves, or even try water sports.

I love the first comment and how Americans are afraid of communism: ) Communism has been dead in this country for 32 years now, and Krakow is much older so of course the architecture is not communist. And btw. Russia is not a communist country, do a google search. ;)

8. I never understood this. Why waiters in US have to come to my table 5 times during one meal and ask if I'm OK? Yes I am OK. I just said that 10 minutes ago. I don't want to have small talk with you. I'm here with someone else. GO AWAY!

I really don't like word cheap, it's just doesn't sound positive and I have this image in my head that is shitty. I would use inexpensive, low-priced or affordable, but that just me.

Since this or last year there is a new law in Poland that makes it mandatory for the car to stop if they see a pedestrain approaching a crosswalk. So the tourist daze is safer now. ;)

Wolters, I love Your comments. You should remember, the Auschwitz WASN'T the Nazi's concentration camp. It WAS THE GERMAN CAMP. The wording we use is very importont.

Thanks for this. I hope to visit it soon, so this was very helpful. I got teared up when you spoke of Auschwitz, so I'm not sure I can visit it, but I will try.

maybe it's better to explaine what to do. especially in the night life. an american who explane the history and the architecture is very ridicolous. and fun.

It is pronounced CRACK-UV, not CRACK-ow.
My grandmother's family originates from this area.
My dad worked with a fellow born in Auschwitz.
