Did you know the Statue of Liberty is actually in New Jersey? Even though it lies fully within the borders of New Jersey, the oddest thing is that NY has legal jurisdiction, and collects sales taxes at the gift shop. Also, there is a bridge, that is not open to the public, that connects Liberty State Park to Ellis Island. The best views of the NYC skyline, in my opinion, are when viewed from across the Hudson River from Liberty State Park.

One thing that shocked me was how nice the new Yorkers could be. I mean it's not like the south but I met some genuinely nice people who helped me while in ny. What also shocked me was how hot it was in August. Around the lower east side was fairly deserted in the middle of the day (on the sidewalks at least) and it was 102. There was no breeze which made it worse. Thankfully we got in an awesome cab and he took us to donut plant.

2 other tips: for a better priced hotel, stay in Jersey City. It's then a short ride on the PATH train to World Trade or Greenwhich Village. Also, avoid Times Square restaurants! They're your dumb, national chains that you have back at home, so yes, that's familiar, but they're WAY more expensive. Go into the various neighborhoods like Upper West Side, Greenwhich, Little Italy. More unique choices and better prices!

For me. I have traveled to nyc many times. I felt the island of manhattan is small. Its like 13miles by 2 miles. just walk around split it in sections take the subway to the top middle or bottom then spend the day walking in and around that Section.
Also find the NY pass a huge Must have saves a ton, but also gets all the admissions paid for and out the way before you travel

The bathrooms in Grand Central are pretty clean. They clean them regularly. Im sorry Im from New York and I do not get customers expecting there to be a bathroom in a store for them to use I dont get it. Also another FYI the shops in Grand Central Station dont have bathrooms for the employees who work in those stores.

So very heart-wrenching to see our NYC Skyline, (behind you, for we Americans whom remember the Twin Towers. PLEASE, please. tourists to America, please remember to maintain a somber/quiet nature, whilst walking our own Ground Zero. It's akin to we Americans walking upon your own Country's hallowed ground, from WWII.

Best thing about it for me was definitely being in awe of the skyline. First time I saw it was at about 12: 30 in the morning and it was all lit up. So amazing to just look at. Aside from the actual city itself, I didnt spend enough time there unfortunately but it didnt seem like it was my kind of thing.

Governor's Island is also a really cool place to visit! The ferry to the island is free during certain times and you get to see a lot of sights as well. Walking around the perimeter of the island is really relaxing- again, you can see the sights as well.

I visited November 2019, I was shocked about how fast the bicycles run on bicycle lines when somebody crosses the road, especially at night, I had a couple of close calls. Otherwise an amazing city, people very helpful and caring

As a born and raised New Yorker I can say I agree with everything you said except for one thing. There isnt something worth doing in all 5 boroughs. 4 yes, but there is no reason for anyone ever to go to staten island.
