As a native Bostonian, I agree with a lot of this, although don't think you have the authentic Boston experience if you skip out on winter. Cannoli's are a must, Nantasket beach is great for kids (although, check the tides because at high tide there is no beach, and don't be intimidated by us New Englanders. There's a saying I like that says There's a difference between nice and kind. Bostonians seem rough on the outside, but if you just talk to us when we aren't running late, we will be happy to give you directions, recommendations, and if you are staying, we might even exchange phone numbers. We have great food, great history, and great people here is Ye Olde Boston, so come on over! (But don't wear a Yankee's cap or you will be socially executed)

Boston is one of my favorite cities in the US because, like you said, it's just packed so full of charm and history, and even kinda has somewhat of a small town feel, plus it's a pretty safe city and even the not so great areas aren't terrible like you'll unfortunately find in most other American cities. As an aside, some of the best Armenian food and snacks I've ever had (other than my grandmother's) I was able to find in many of the bakeries and markets along Mount Auburn Street in nearby Watertown. And I live just outside NYC, arguably the ethnic food capital of the US (except for Mexican.

Best antiquated bookstores! Used books, old books, out of print books, books, books. Bring an extra suitcase. And true, hokey touristy but keep in mind that the land Wolter stands on was once cattle trading spot for early American settlers. Point is that you can walk in spots of great significance (house of prayer the British commandeered to rest their horses) if you appreciate the ground and the original rub. Ohhhh, right, that is how this country was/is defined. instigation, provocation, and call it brave works.

I get home to Boston a few times a year. My last 2 or 3 days I return my rental car, get a hotel room and just hang out in town. You will want a rental car if you plan to venture out to the 'burbs but otherwise it won't be needed. One lesser known culinary treat is our well known roast beef sandwiches. Legend has it the roast beef sandwich was invented here back in the 1950's by the now famous Kelly's Roast Beef. They have really good fried clams too. Kelly's tends to be my first stop after leaving the airport,

It's a little disappointing that every time I watch one of these travel videos for Boston that people always highlight the North End and never mention Chinatown. Don't get me wrong, the North End is great and Italian food is great, but the food in Chinatown is also great. There's so much to do in Boston. People should make it a point to also visit the Boston Public Library. It's beautiful, it's HUGE, and it's FREE. It's in the Back Bay which is also a great part of the city for foodies.

If you are hitting up Fenway on a day where there is a game DO NOT try to find parking there. It'll cost you $45+ unless you have resident parking and some meters are marked as no parking zones during games. Don't try to take an uber in either, it'll cost you. Just take the t if possible. You'll thank me later for that. It gets PACKED. I spent an hour and a half trying to find parking to get to a doctors appointment once. Just don't.

As a Boston resident. the WORST thing about people NOT from here. and in particular parents of college students.
They rent a U-Haul that is 12'09 tall and try to take that truck onto Storrow Dr.
Pro Life Tip here: NEVER try to take any vehicle that has a height of more than 10' onto Storrow Dr.
You don't wanna be on the news here as that idiot who got Storrowed

Love love love Boston! Was there August 2019, achieved my lifelong dream of going to a game at Fenway! Beyond AWESOME! Even did the tour earlier in the day. Unfortunately had to cancel our 2020 Fourth of July trip, obviously. Also, being from Canada and borders still closed (SUCKS, probably wont be back until later this year or 2022.
But we WILL be back!

Lived there for about 10 years. Absolutely loved it. I was told the people would be cold. Couldn't be further from the truth. Met the most wonderful people there, still good friends. One of the things my son loved when he was little was taking the subway all over the place and stopping to listen to the musicians. He's still a giant music lover.

Boston is my where my heart is. I was born here in Boston and have lived in/around Boston my whole life! There is not one thing besides traffic that I could say that I would hate about Boston. Massachusetts is and will forever be my home. Oh and also GO SOX! #BostonStrong
