I just moved to Austin from San Francisco via Dallas.
As a native San Franciscan, I watched the tech douchebags destroy my city. Everybody kept saying, go to Austin, it's such a cool place.
Honestly, while there are some cool things, the writing is on the wall. These douchebags are in the process of destroying Austin the same way they destroyed SF.
It's a bit of a letdown, to be honest. My parents moved from Austin to SF back in the 70s and they often remarked about how cool and funky was back in the day.
So, I guess I was expecting something different. Instead, I ran right into what I was trying to flee from.

Great video! I'm an east coaster who moved here a year ago, and all are true except for #4 - Don't Drive in Austin. If you aren't scared of parallel parking and/or from a decent sized city, driving here is no problem at all. (unless I guess you're trying to get around downtown during a major event) It's much easier than relying on rideshares and public transport. I know because I had to for a while, and driving is 100x easier in comparison.

I hate all these comments saying don't move here. It's not your fault that we choose not to allow enough housing and transit infrastructure to be built to accommodate everyone who wants to live here. That's on us. However, don't expect it to be that great if you do move here, or even just visit. It's a pretty ordinary place.

First mistake you made in your video is to wear something dark colored and long sleeved in the Texas heat! Lol. I'll see the rest of your video. I lived in Austin for over 25 years and graduated from high school in 1990 before it all got built up and the homeless were not allowed to camp anywhere.

Don't eat the Mexican food there. Don't even eat it at San Antonio. Visit the Rio Grande Valley for that. Also, DON'T wait in line for BBQ in Austin. There are so many great places without the line: Terry Blacks, Kerlin, Style Switch, Micklethwait, Leroy & Lewis, etc.

Love dudes enthusiasm but. 99% of our breakfast tacos are hot garbage at 5 bucks a taco. Mcdo does better. Good breakfast? Go to gordoughs. Or a local breakfast diner. Skip the breakfast taco craze. Bleh

Austin and a lot of cities in Texas have city tours. We have a travel trailer and we always do a city tour to help decide what we want to see. Sometimes we have just a couple of days to spend in a city.

What I gather from the comment sect is folks despise change & trouble adapting to the ever occurring constant. Perhaps that's just most people in general. Moving to Austin from Prague this year!
