Do you have to speak spanish if you visit South America? Is South America Safe? Where should O go in South America? Johnny: Uruguay is probably the safest country in South America and thats because they lack of ppopulation. They are only 3 millions at all, and only 1. 5 are in the capital, Montevideo. They have a wide middle class, as well as Chile and Argentina, by a distance the most developed countries of Latam. So, Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay are, IMHO, as safe as the US, maybe even safer, since they dont have this weapon culture. Uruguay being the safest. Santiago is also a mid size city, so they dont have big problems with insecurity, and Buenos Aires is like NY, or LA, or Chicago.

Do You Have to Speak Spanish to Visit South America?
Well now, in Brazil, they speak Portuguese which is _similar, _ but nonetheless, a different language. In Guyana, the main language is _English, _ so there's really no need. In Suriname, oddly enough, the official language is _Dutch, _ and they border _one_ country where the official language is French, _another_ country where the official language is Portuguese and _one_ country where the official language is _English. _

I have some questions, even though I live in Brazil:
-Did you need to get the yellow fever vaccine, to come to Sao Paulo?
-Have you ever visited the Jardim Botanico de Sao Paulo (near the zoo and Simba Safari) or if you like trails, the Parque da Cantareira (there is a trail that leads to Pedra Grande, which it said that have a great view of the city of Sao Paulo. This are the places I want to visit someday.
Btw, thank you for the great tips in your videos!

Brazil isn't the only country where they don't speak Spanish. People in Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana also don't speak Spanish. In Guyana they mainly speak English. Suriname Dutch. French Guiana French. Everywhere else in South America everyone speaks Spanish besides the 4 countries I mentioned. Do know in Brazil everyone speaks Portuguese.

Peru is honestly underrated. Was born and raised in Peru for a few years and cities like Miraflores and Lima are even more beautiful than some major cities here in America. Not to mention Cuzco was amazing, basically a must if youre staying in Peru. Other than Brazil, Id probably say its the best country for a foreigner going to South America

Yeah you can come to SA with English only but the tourist experience will be very touristy (if you know what I mean) and if you don't like that maybe it's not the best area. I do understand that a more touristy experience is what most people want and they are ok with it.

By the way, here's my advice for other Spanish speakers who come visit Peru. Like anyone else we have our idiom. Don't be afraid to ask if you don't get what people say. Be patient. Ask and be polite. We like it that way. It won't take you long to speak Peruvian.

How cheap/expensive is Uruguay and Argentina compared to Peru?

Mark! Have you and your family been to Colombia? If not, can you please visit there and make a video? I am half-Colombian and I want to learn more about the country and would love to hear your perspective.

Well, Spanish and Portuguese are two different languages. So if you know one then you dont necessarily know the other. A thousand years ago they were more or less the same. But now they are not.
