Montevideo is a safe, easy to navigate city, which is a welcome relief from the hustle and bustle of a number of other major South American cities. The city offers great architecture, churches, museums and markets for tourists to enjoy. From the cathedral to the boardwalk to the beaches tourists will have a wonderful time in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay. A

Uruguay is definitely the best country in Latin America. Safe and with a lot of charme.
Montevideo is one of my favorite cities world wide. Actually MVD is not a cosmopolitan city with a lot of attractions. It feels more like you are taking a trip back to the 70s with all the old streets and housings. The atmosphere is so relaxed and you are every where close to the sea.
Is there something bad to say about Uruguay? Yes! It's the most expensive country in Latin America! You can have really great food and wine - but don't get shocked when they present you the bill. In Argentina and Brazil food and drinks are in average 50% cheaper!

I love the video! But I have to add 2 things as an Uruguayan. Punta del Este is not the best place to go in summer. The cost of Rocha is so much more amazing and there are less people and is cheaper. Cabo Polonio is one of the best places, you can visit Punta del Diablo, Valizas, La Paloma. Punta del Este for me is a tourist trap and is toooo crowded in summer.
And Uruguay is safer than a lot of places in South America. But have common sense and don't carry your camera or cell phone in public because you might be rob.
Is really awsome that you have come here! Thank you for showing our little country. We really love your videos!

Montevideo is very safe. One nigh I saw a guy step out into the light of a street lamp to count a stack of money. He was not worried about someone stealing it from his hands.
I also tried to buy a small property. When the deal fell through, I got my money back!
Uruguay is wonderful!

Do not use the currency exchange at MVD airport, I got a euro rate of just over 30 pesos/euro, over 40/1 was available down town. My advice is to change what you need for a taxi, if that, they will take dollars Im sure as there are exchanges houses on most major streets.

When describing Medio y Medio, Mark almost said shhh, shhh, _champagne_ instead of sparkling wine. He knows the difference and Jocelyn was probably rolling her eyes thinking. _I can't believe I'm having French champagne in Paris! _

Fun video! I studied abroad in Montevideo and also enjoyed visiting Punta del Este. I think Montevideo is a great city for first time travelers to South America, and fun to combine with a trip to Buenos Aires.

Your favorite building has a sibling im Buenos Aires. They were both designed by the same architect and he intended for the light at the top of both buildings to greet each other across the Rio de la Plata

I'm very much enjoying this series on Uruguay. I've found that country quite fascinating, and it is an international destination that is feasible for me. Great to hear a local person talk about it too.

Hi Mark! Could you do a video that explains what you need do/how an airport works for someone that has never been in one, my grandparents are going to be flying for the first time and I think it would help.

I can't believe you guys didn't mention the drink mate! The gourd and some local mate tea make great souvenirs to take back to friends/ family.
