WOLTER - mostly 100% but those old ideas here in Brasil are really not true
Just think about it; they are telling you that the sewer pipes can't take toilet paper, but you can drop a bunch of hard turds and that doesn't hurt the pipes? THAT makes NO sense.
I've lived here and shit daily and every single day I have been here THREW TOILET PAPER down the toilet and NEVER had a problem. IT'S a completely BOGUS
YES, I have never taken a taxi in Brasil unless I was loaded down with baggage and needed a van, the rest of the time I take the bus (Very easy to do and if you''re over 65, ride for free) or take an UBER, UBER; S are very plentiful here in Brasil.
ANOTHER ERROR - I have lived in the north - Recife and the south - Florianopolis and visited many many other cities and I have ALWAYS DRANK THE TAP WATER!
MY wife's mother won't even do it (Brasilian) but I have NEVER had a problem

this video is old but if there's anyone just discovering this and thinking of visiting South America, I have something to say. i live in Ecuador and I can't speak for the whole continent but don't assume everywhere is the same! sure, there _are_ poor places but I can assure you, it's not all poverty, mosquitoes and crime. honestly, it's not even dangerous here. also, I want to promote Ecuador, so baiscally there are 3 regions: the coast (beaches and stuff, the Andes (mountains) and the Amazon (rainforest. and not to mention the Galapagos islands, it's ethereal over there. yes, there's all that diversity in one country and it's not even that big. so don't be afraid to visit!

Ha! Ha! He brings his sun tan lotion from home because its cheaper. This guy is like a travel guide for the poor and ignorant.
He took a 24 hour bus ride LMAO. He probably took his own baloney sandwich to save money.
Then he tells how to tip. Look at him and he is telling people how to tip. He must be talking to ghetto rats.
I bet he had a heart attack when he got his cell phone bill because he was talking like his data plan was good in South America.

Thanks for the info. I was blessed to see central America this year. Panama city and some swimming in the pacific while traveling around the pacific side of Panama. It was a absolutely gorgeous place and the culture, food, people, every day was a great blessing. I look forward to seeing more of central America and I hope to see some of south America as well.

I suggest touring the Buenos Aires province in Argentina, which most tourists ignore. instead of just rushing to take the boat from BA city to Colonia or montevideo, try BA province which is actually bigger than the entire Uruguay and it's full of calm towns and coastal cities. Anything you find in Uruguay, you'll find it in BA province and even more =)

Hey! About the toilet paper thing. What kind of flush mecanism you got up there, it is pneumatic and how can it prevent your Wc from getting clogged, they must work with broad sewage pipes. Is that why there are so many rats below the city, because the feed and live from all the stuff your throw to your mighty-swallowing toilets and sinks?

Taxi drivers here (Chile) are mostly shit. They'll spot a tourist and they will rip him off. Just use Uber or Cabify.
Also, don't trust half cooked eggs. My brother went to Machu Pichu, and he got Salmonellosis, so be aware.
Some medicines can be cheaper here, check smaller pharmacies (independent ones, you can save plenty

I enjoy your videos but on this one I disagree with we are all Americans. When you say where you are from you say the country Ex: Ecuador, Panama, Venezuela, Canada. When you say American you are referring to the United States of America no other country has America in their title.

We have a peruvian vendor at our farm market who brought this Inca Cola and it tastes different than any kind of pop Ive had.
I like it actually.
If you Add a bit of Brugal Rum to that & maybe a lime wedge/squeeze and you have a Peruvian variation on a Cuba Libre

In Chile, everyone will know you are a tourist if you wear short pants. I went in January - their summer - and no men were wearing shorts. So, if you don't want to look like a tourist then pack trousers.
