Meat eaters always (always, always, always) say that vegetarians will have a tough time in basically every country in the world. And then you go. and its perfectly easy to be a vegetarian, the same as everywhere. It turns out nearly everywhere human settle, you have ample supply of grains, vegetables, fruits, nuts, etc.
I have not been to Uruguay, but have vacationed in six other Latin American countries. All of them had vegetarian options at least as good as my native USA. Especially in a big city like Montevideo, there is absolutely no chance you will lack for options.

Are the tomatoes in Uruguay good? If they are, that alone would make it a better food country than the USA. In America, most tomatoes are pretty bad, and generally if you order a caprese, you end up having to take the tomato off and it becomes a mozzarella basil sandwich. Its possible to get good tomatoes in America, but most restaurants go cheap instead, even if its a pretty good restaurant.

You forgot to mention the tortas fritas, the chinchulines, the morcilla and more and foremost: THE MILANESAS. But don't you worry, if you ever come to Toronto I'l prepare theme for you and your family. Do you like dulce de leche? Here's a North American version of it: boil sweetened condensed milk in their unopened cans for about two hours. Let it cool and enjoyed it.

I don't think this guy is the best to be talking about food. First he said that if you are watching your carbs, you can have potatoes. Potatoes are carbs. Then he said The salads are fine when talking about vegetarians/vegans, when you can go ages without eating a salad being a vegan. Sounded very ignorant.
