Strasbourg: The Don'ts of Visiting Strasbourg, France - Wolters World Simon: I live in the center of Strasbourg and I've always lived in Alsace, and I must say that all my college friends coming from other cities in France keep telling me how great Strasbourg is to live in, how nice it is to live in Alsace. You ca enjoy it during all seasons, the summers are hot, the winter are cold and most of the time snowy, you got aaaa loooot to do all around in Alsace, you can hike in the Vosges (old mountains forming the natural west frontier of Alsace, you can also go in Germany and enjoy all you can there (cheaper alcohol, the Black Forest (also old mountains, in the East this time, the food, everything.
I like to say that the greatest thing with Strasbourg is that it is a small big city. You got all the advantages of living in a big city, but it is actually quite small, you don't feel oppressed, and you are like 30 minuts away from being in the country side, with a lot of other towns and wonderful villages to visit.
My advice would be: rent a car if you can afford it and go visit the countryside villages and the towns, like Obernai, Colmar, Selestat, go near the Vosges, go visit our great middle-age castles, all the culture you can find! Alsace is so dense you have a lot to see.
I've lived here all my life, 22 years, and I still have a lot of things to discover, rediscover during other seasons, and more.
Come to Alsace, and enjoy!
PS: it can be expensive depending on where in the world you come from but it is actually quite cheaper than other cities in France, for example a lot cheaper than Paris (maybe not during Christmas time, I have to aknowledge.

I love traveling too (I love Paris, Belgium, Montreal, Caribbean, coastal US cities) but it ain't free and stocks are one way to make money.
, AMAZON:
Yep, I bought a ton on the dip. It's getting cheaper relative to its current earnings (half compared to last year.
. With the Delta virus coming at full speed ahead, pandemic sales will make a comeback.
Amazon's not going anywhere so I know that eventually it will come back.
Fidelity considers Amazon as a large growth company (probably because as big as it is, it still only has 7% of the retail market)
buying via Amazon Smile donations donates some money to my favorite charity too!
Get on board or be runover, it's up to you.

. And do not forget to visit the Wine Cellar of the Strasbourg Hospital Cave des hospices de Strasbourg and find, among some huge sculpted oak barrel, a smaller one that is also the oldest in the world, which contains a wine that was kept since 1472. The last who drank a glass out of it was General Leclerc in 1945. This cellar is not just a museum, it is still in use today, and some famous producers from the route des vins have their wine kept in Strasbourg by the Hospital.

Wait wait wait you have to BUY TICKETS to see the Clock in the cathedral now? Ive been living near Strasbourg (and live in the city now) for years, my mother showed me the clock when I was like 7 and Ive seen it hundreds of times and it was FREE!
Cant believe you have to BUY tickets to see the clock show now, what a disappointment.

Maybe its because I'm from a notoriously rainy part of Europe that I love European cities on a wet winters evening. Its something to do with the buildings lit up from the inside shining in the gloom that makes them so beautiful and welcoming. That shot of the square you showed a few times made me so wimsical.

Was in Strassbourg for the first time this summer. I loved it. Beautiful city.
If you want to visit the European Parliament IMO you can save yourself some time. Massive building, very nicely decorated but it feels deserted (which most of the time it is.
So concentrate on the centre!

Hi, I am from Strasbourg and I really enjoyed your tour. Just a precision, Paris is now 1h45 from there. And finding a place to stay is in fact expensive, but you can eat really good food for little money, just stay out of the touristy restaurants

Great video and very useful for my possible trip there next year! Can you or someone please provide the spelling of that 3-meat deep-dish with potatoes on top at the 1: 55 mark? I couldn't get close enough for google to come up with anything useful.

As a German from Freiburg I recommend to visit a game of the Racing Club de Strasbourg, the blue and white pride of the city! You'll love the atmosphere when the Blues are taking the field.

There is a wonderful large model of the Strasbourg cathedral's clock in the Power House museum in Sydney Australia. It does everything that the original clock does and a little more.
