44 years I have been living in New Orleans and still live in New Orleans this place this city is a rat hole gutter and ghetto everywhere you go do not be fool but a pretty pictures of the French quarters that's what they want you to think 90% of this city is one down abandoned buildings blighted houses businesses on the verge of closing down crime is on extremely high in my 44 years two cars has been stolen something for you to think about if you move here you have a good possibility that your car will be stolen everywhere you go outside the French quarters or the garden district someone asking you for change rent somewhat reasonable and if you do pay rent let's see anything under $1, 200 most likely the landlord or the property management will not fix it don't even get me started on the potholes in this city they're everywhere you need a tank to drive in the city anything smaller than a truck best to believe you better have car shield because you will need a new suspension system let's see anything that I left out oh yeah for a job wise good luck with that it seems that people in higher paying jobs only get family members or close friends on instead of hiding someone with years of experience he is a true story what's taking a lift to work just the other day January the 7th the left driver was from New York moved to New Orleans 3 years ago our response was she regret leaving New York coming to New Orleans there's nothing that goes on down here other than Mardi gras but they paint a pretty picture to believe is bustling and booming believe me people I was born raised and still live here take it from a true New Orleans person there's nothing here the jobs are low pain the housing or raggedy it may be cheap unless you pay a ridiculous high rent I might get a lot of hate replies for this message but I am just telling you the honest to god through so Don't kill the Messenger this is why I'm moving to the next parish next door JP known as Jefferson parish you can clearly see the difference the grass is greener literally it's a fresher smell in the air every block does not have run down houses or businesses now don't get me wrong you can't have fun down here doing Mardi gras time but that's about it unless they win a bid to bring the super bowl to the Superdome that's it nothing else goes on down here almost forgot the people are extremely rude and mean down here I didn't have noticed the only people that's nice to you unless they own someone clock and they have to be I the Young African American females here are extremely extremely feisty not all but most just coming from a person who been living here for 44 years I am planning to move as soon as I have the means to out of New Orleans out of Louisiana oh I've got the car insurance here it's ridiculous you will easily be 5 6 maybe $700 for bumper to bumper insurance that's all I have to say good night people and have a blessed day

New Orleans is a trash city, filled with every type of scammer known to man. You cant walk one block without people trying to scam you out of money. The natives as a whole are rude and unwelcoming. The cart and horse tours are trash. Our tour guide was racist against Asians. Making it clear that she had to spray the COVID that the Asians brought to New Orleans off of the blankets that she offers her riders. How petty. There was a homeless man sleeping at the entrance of a restaurant and the staff wanted patrons to just act like he wasnt there. It was very disturbing. Dont go to the French Market, they up charge whenever you try to buy something. If the sign says T-shirts ten dollars, they will claim the T-shirt you chose is actually thirty dollars. All of the food, no matter where you go all taste the same. Every restaurant has the same sorry menu. New Orleans is all hype

I love New Orleans! I've visited twice this year! Whatever you do - DO NOT drink a Hand Grenade. (Which actually means, definitely try the Hand Grenade! They're delicious and will get you drunk before you even realize it. And if you go out drinking on Bourbon Street just beware. Those drinks will get you smashed drunk. I've got some incredible memories from being there in June. What a fun time. If Bourbon Street is too wild for you, check out FRENCHMAN street! That's where all the locals go to party. Also check out the waterfront near the Mississippi River. There's a little outdoor vendor market near there too. I also recommend checking out the Garden District. Lots of great stuff in NOLA, coming from a Californian. :) HOWEVER: they currently have a vaccine mandate and when I visited in September I was asked to show proof of vaccination at multiple restaurants. NOT cool.

Its odd I have had a feeling pulling me to New Orleans for years now. . but I havent listened. . New Orleans sounds complicated and also easy at the same time. I prefer the French quarter and the cemetery some type of history lesson with it. something that would intrigue me Im scared that. I will miss all the parts I need to see. and perhaps. my luck not get a taxi I always travel in 3s. do they charge 15 dollars for kids to. that bites. hmm Uber sounds more like it for me. they have a vampire ball every year. I want to attend. but scared theyll try to eat me. I had the same pulling feeling to New York and was quite disappointed. food sucked. and. no one was singing Christmas carols like they do on tv.

As a LONG TIME lyft/uber driver in NOLA our rates are cheaper, our cars are cleaner, our drivers are friendlier and you will know who you are riding with. Our drivers are background checked a few times each year. And I can personally tell you horror stories of rub cabbies changing the rates on passengers to maximize their profits unrealistically. but, hell. take a cab if you can't understand the LARGE SIGNS that are CLEARLY displayed showing you that the Lyft/uber pick up zone is 8 feet from the hotel shuttles. WHICH ARE EVEN CHEAPER then riding rideshare! Just say'n

I would pay the kids beating on plastic buckets to stop. It is awful and endless. We travel there most every other weekend because as we have a loft in a warehouse there. We rarely go to the French Quarter. So many restaurants all over town. City park is awesome and bigger than Central Park. Dont stand in that line at Cafe Du Monde in the French Quarter to get beignets. That are many other places that have them that are equally good. There is a Cafe Du Monde in City Park.

New Orleans is a very friendly place. All major cities have sketchy aspects. Paris has pick-pockets. Nola has the Shoe hustle. The history of the city is hustling tbh. Locals are a hoot, super fun and friendly. Everything is walking distance in the French Quarter/Frenchman. Be kind and respectful of the culture!

I went to New Orleans a couple months ago to interview at UNO, I stayed at the City House Hostel on Canal & Burgundy Street. It was a great experience. Bare bones, but all I needed. Right on the edge of the quarter and a fraction of the cost I would have spent at a hotel nearby.

I have always wanted to visit NO. But I'll never be able to as I have a criminal record. After checking up there's not a chance in hell id even make it out the airport. Lol. I only have myself to blame.
So envious of anyone who visits or lives in NO.
