Do not forget to visit the City of Madison Georgia (not the county of Madison although it's awesome also. When the North was rolling through Georgia burning everything during the civil war they spared the City of Madison because it was just that beautiful. It truly is a wonder to see. Take the horse draw carriage tour through town it's kinda like the local taxi

As a Georgian (and a HUGE Bulldogs fan, I must say youve more or less hit this on the head. Everything in this is right, except for the thing that we dont use instant grits. Rarely if ever does anyone have the time to make the good, stovetop grits that take FOREVER to make, but they are better. I suppose you usually can get that kind in restaurants though.

I've lived in Georgia my whole life and I say with absolute authority that Georgians are not that polite. In fact, white Boomers who are rural Georgia born and raised are rude and hateful AF. Then you have the rushed pace of Midtown Atlanta, and that comes with its own unique brashness. I've encountered more polite people up north

First don't is don't go to Atlanta. Atlanta is not Georgia, nor does it even come close to representing real Georgia. You want to know real Georgia? Take some back roads and ride through some small towns. That's 95% of what Georgia is. Atlanta is nothing even close to 1% of how Georgia really is.

Moved here from Chicago 2 years ago. absolutely love it. So many mountain hikes and waterfalls to swim in up north in Blue Ridge and near Helen, and great culture and southern vibes in the southern part of the state. We go to Savannah a few times a year already and also visit the marsh.

If you are in Savannah in the fall from September to October. Go to a Georgia Southern football game! Its a 40 minute drive from Savannah to Statesboro. The tailgates are awesome! Fun Atmosphere and friendly people stop by Gnats landing or El sombrero and eat some good food too!

I live in Georgia, born here as well. Always found it amusing people ask for 'Un-sweet tea. There's no such thing, it's just tea. Un-sweet sounds like it was sweet at first, then you took the sweetness out of it. It's tea by itself, or tea with sugar added.
